SEVENTEEN Happy Burstday Album (I skimmed through most of the solos) - A bittersweet ending

wtf is this pt 2?!?!?!

Contrary to popular belief, I actually don't hate thunder lol it's a little camp AND they look gorgeous!

Where my issues lay is I guess artist fatigue?? I mean after 10 years, it can get to a point where you just don't connect with an artist's output anymore ESPECIALLY when they've churned out SOO much music in those 10 years.

If it was a case of us having 5 albums it would be different because the growth and music would feel earned. But we've had SOO much music (23 including minis and rereleases) it feels like some choices are just random and just for the sake of it rather than intention, this is where my fatigue stems from.

That's the BEST way I can explain it. I think having the solos was a good idea though but some of them felt like empty demo's and didn't really go anywhere. At this point they deserve a VERY long break. I said this after the previous album before they did the sub unit songs.

In the future I'll probably listen to them casually off camera but there's no use reacting although I may be interested in dance practices but we'll see.

This Album was my least favourite album from them. These man need to rest, they deserve it.

Truuue Maestro reminded me of Fear !

As someone who has been a more casual fan for about 10 Years now, whenever there is an issue I blame Pledis. I hold on to the belief that they don't know how to handle a successful group which is why whenever they get one they fumble. Seventeen has been overworked for years and while they are hit or miss for me, their 'lows' never lasts long. Mastero was only last year I have high hopes for them.

Little Giant Ace

(I WAS RAMBLING MY BAD) idk if it’s just me but a lot of these companies (specifically the ones under hybe) have been continuously moving very weird ever since BTS has taken their hiatus. they felt the gap and they’ve been pushing their groups to fill that gap and almost take their place in the industry and seventeen has definitely been the bigger victims of that. contrary to popular belief i feel like maestro was their last title track that truly felt like them. and this doesn’t fully fall on woozi’s shoulders despite popular belief they do still have a whole team working with them on these things. so some ppl got hop off him just a LIL 😭 the songs he’s not on just don’t feel like seventeen at all and the ones he is working on her feels like he’s pushing out whatever he can bc he’s got ppl on his ass. which is disheartening fs bc that’s how artists start resenting their craft It just feels like their hearts are still in it but their losing their voice and color and idk maybe it’s partially with the new people they’re bringing in bc sometimes we rlly shouldn’t be tryna fix what’s broken lmfao but they need the break. it just feels like this reoccurring trend of just wanting these idols to push content out instead of caring abt the integrity to the point you can’t help but want to shift away because it doesn’t feel like THEM. with another comeback on the horizon and a whole damn TOUR idk what they’re tryna do with seventeen. but its gonna do more harm than good 😭 praying for military service for them atp bc idk maybe their return will feel more like them and less like a quick cash grab

alo is definitely their most fun & listenable title in a hot minute but the majority of this really just felt like music for the sake of being music. Pledis is always moving so weird

ive been saying since maestro that woozi needs a break (all of them but ESPECIALLY him since he works on their music the most) asap I MEAN IT. ive been a carat for basically almost a decade and hoshi is my pfp and i just... dont know where their music went musically? the tts have just felt not very 'them' at all and maybe its cuz i love freshteen but it doesn't even have to be "fresh", i loved fear hot super etc. and i think a yearning song like ready to love really works for them amazingly. that being said, thunder isnt a bad tt like at ALL. i actually was surprised as to how much i really liked it compared to maestro, love money fame, etc. i think gemini, trigger, damage, and fortunate change were my favorites solo wise. they REALLY need a break like asap and im hoping this upcoming military enlistment stuff would help them with that. it feels like ever since BTS went to the military, they were basically forced to just do a comeback like every 6 months. but then again, they kinda did that as well in their pledis days so im not really sure. is it because hybe has no sort of direction for them musically? im not sure.

This is not a bad album at all. Thunder sounds very 2nd gen. Which in my books is great. I do find it funny that people want them to do something different but when they do, everyone’s hands up about not liking it because it’s not “what they wanted them to do”. If ppl miss their “old sound” so much whatever that is, go listen to their old songs. This coming from someone who’s be here since debut. I truly enjoy your reviews Micah so please this is not towards you. I think everyone has made up their minds about what “sound” SVT has and don’t want to change it. Someone mentioned Maestro being their last good output and losing interest after but if you deep it, Maestro was only last year and 2 mini albums ago so it’s not even that long? You lost interest during STF? That’s just one album, you will be okay. I personally love this because you can see everyone’s musical taste and colour which we’ve never had before. We can’t blame Woozi for everything which has been everyone’s go to when he has no hand in most of the solos. I feel like everyone is just saying stuff or “critiquing” when they actually don’t know what it is they are being critical of. No one is denying they are burnt out certainly not me but you can’t miss Adore you when that was ages ago and if they kept doing that, people would still criticize it. Fear? The one most people didn’t like when it was released? GOM? The one everyone was bashing as horrible up until last year? Suddenly everyone love’s Maestro when I remember for a fact everyone hated it. Do y’all see a pattern here because I am. I just find fans keep moving the goal post of what they think the last good era of SVT was and if everyone cannot agree on one album and it always turns into “whatever album that is not the new one was the best album” then I say SVT seems to be doing well musically wise. You cannot critic a song when you have no information and when it seems you are criticizing the wrong person. Again, they ate with this album because no one’s musical taste was interfering with each other outside of the ballads.

Someone once said SEVENTEEN’s been overworked ever since BTS started enlisting, and honestly, I agree. They’ve always been known for their charm and undeniable talent but ever since then, it feels like SEVENTEEN’s had to carry way more because HYBE needed someone to carry the momentum and SEVENTEEN is perfect because they were popular anyway. They've been pushed, More content, more tours, more pressure from all sides—and it’s really starting to show. They've got so much stuff going on, I cant even keep up. They’ve handled it with grace, but you can’t keep pushing creativity on a strict schedule without something giving way. Their music is still good, but for some fans, it doesn’t feel as emotionally resonant or fresh as it used to. That spark, that sense of “they made this because they wanted to,” is starting to feel more like “they made this because they had to.” They deserve a proper break. I wish they’d just pull a BTS and have everyone enlist at the same time, because if they go one by one, we’ll be waiting until the 8th gen before they perform as a group again lmaoo 😭
