Disclaimer: I'm a massive OT9 Stan so if that annoys you, my Jessica musings may annoying, SOZ but not soz. Her voice is magical and sorely missed so I'll get distracted at times but honestly OT8 did what they had to do also.
I was in need of some SNSD content so I had to do what I had to do!
You can tell they had something to prove, their motivations are of course left to ones own wonderings (much like I was doing lol its part of the fun) but it made for a very enjoyable performance.
Their energy was infectious, ESPECIALLY Tiffany, my god she was carrying and adding so many power money notes. Taeyeon was KING as usually lool.
My biggest critique is the minimal live vocals but I've come to accept this from SM groups for the most part now but as I said on the Big Bang reaction, at least the music slaps for the most part.
I wanna rewatch Phantasia now ... hmm

I’ve always been a fan of her voice but I think they did a good job covering her and my poor Sunny during Into The New World 🥺

Like Sooyoung, if she would give up her idol status if it would mean she can continue doing what she loves OR her being a good sunbae to her future hoobae (girls from R U NEXT?!). Yoona talking about she would advertise she's from SNSD when she get recognized from kdramas. This is facebook video archive old. Not even kidding lol

2024-08-12 09:11:06 +0000 UTCI just can't sit through any SM group's full concert because it rarely sounds raw. There are always some great performances that I keep revisiting from time to time, but a full concert? Hell nah.

I always thought that Yuri's vocals shines the most in the lower parts of Girls Generation songs like in Mr. Mr., Run devil Run and Hoot. That concept also fits her really well.

I LOVE POP!!! they way I felt my serotonin spike from the first line when they were rising from the stage. uhhh Idk even know why I liked this so much, bc if a nugu group performed this way with like 80% lip sync and corny choreo, I would've immediately gotten bored. The power of nostalgia I guess. Also, the fact that soo many of their songs are hits!!! (in my mind) The crowd also brought energy tho, and the hot air ballon was crazy. (I feel like I often really like SM concert stage design and lighting design.)

2024-08-12 01:15:36 +0000 UTCYeah I can understand what you mean, but I think her parts were just memorable. Also, I think that those songs as a whole are pretty memorable as well. Because I think in all the songs you mentioned above, she only has one actual singing part. Granted her and Jessica have that spoken part at the beginning of “Gee,” and she has the “Dj turn it back on ,” in Genie. I think before TTS, it was Tae and Sica ft. Seohyun and sometimes Sunny. Then the 5 backup dancers. But after TTS, she got a lot more individual lines. Then once Jess left, Tiffany basically got all her lines too.

2024-08-10 23:11:50 +0000 UTCI know Jessica isn’t here, but since you brought her up. I think that Tiff mostly got more parts without Sica there. Which is why she was more excited I think. She was notoriously underutilized during their early years/pre TTS days. Like she literally has no singing parts in “The Boys,” she legit is making noises and saying things like “Hey, Come On, We bring the Boys out,” the whole time. But it might be a little jealousy too. I mean Sica was the most popular member in Japan, and probably the first or second most popular member in China. She was also top 3 in Korea as well. She was also called the main vocal in China/Japan and Tae was the main vocal in Korea because of how much her voice was used over there. Even in this concert, her voice could be heard all over because they would basically have to do the songs over to get her voice out. I mean this is just my opinion and what people have said. Also, I know a lot of the girls probably had respect for her since she sacrificed the most for the group. Like training for 7 years, moving to Korea, and even giving up opportunities for the other girls allegedly. I mean I’ve heard a lot of rumors/facts that people forgetting about her over the years.
