Natty is a force to be a reckoned with, her voice has way more range than I imagined and it's effortless and free and her stage presence is great.
Haneul also really surprised me, so much potential there and Julie is also versatile.
Now, Belle. Let's talk hunny!
Her lower range is delicious as are her runs and head voice high notes, everything else in-between give me cause for concern in terms of her longevity and EASE. She has way too much tension even before she begins to belt high and it messes with her diction and clarity because there's also a lot of nasality.
I'd also love for her to develop her own style of performing. The Ariana influence is almost overpowering at times with even how she stands/holds the mic. Imitating a vocal diva gets the best of us but I'd love her to make her own identity which I think will also help free her voice which she may be also manipulating to lean into the pretty soft Ariana tone.
As a group they're VERY exciting and I think they'll be HUGE for sure and their music is also GREAT.

Honestly at the time belle was singing 25/8 I think she was even getting sick maybe that’s why she was pulling back more when she was singing cause I heard her live and she sounded way better!

Anytime I sing with my head up I'm struggling to get the notes I want out. My guess is she does it on purpose because she wants to maintain the technique and style she learned from Ari. The problem is though I've heard her degrading on this comeback specifically. A good thing is since she learned to sing like Ari it wont be too hard to pull back from it. I just hope she does it before she damages her vocals too much.

2024-07-30 22:17:03 +0000 UTCTotally agree with Belle's vocal issues, I've always liked Haneul's live singing more than Belle's and could never pinpoint why, maybe I feel less scared for her voice than I do when I listen to Belle, it makes it easier to listen to for me. Also, I am so obsessed with Te Quiero, it's going right after Perfect Night for me in terms of English-only K-pop releases!!!

2024-07-30 18:31:07 +0000 UTCAs a group they pop off, due to their chemistry and the clear group concept. As soloists, Natty is the well-developed artist. She did try to go solo just before KIOF. Like you, I started to notice the issues with Belle's vocals as their workload piled up. At this point, I also fear long-term damage, if she doesn't change/fix her technique, which requires time. Seems like she feels the need to go for those "wow" moments all the time to make her "nugu" group stand out amongst the cut-throat competition. But now, I think that job is done, and hopefully she stops pushing her vocals like that for awhile at least

For a rookie group of 4 members I am blown away by how well they pulled this off & SHONE! Destroying the nugu allegations. And thank you for pointing out how constrained Belle is by her imitation of Ari. It’s the one thing that puts me off about KoL, those Ari vocals can sound so derivative as to pull me out of the songs. It also confuses me because Belle is such an artistic talent in her own right as a songwriter and her voice could be such a unique instrument. I watched her cover of Psycho on Masked Singer and, when she dropped the Ari imitation / didn’t have to do power belts all the time, she sounded SO amazing. I have a suspicion she’s been pressured into this role to better conform to the group’s image & identity, and I hope it changes soon for her health & artistic path.

If you have ears, it’s evident even in the way her body reacts to a high note: head lifted, sky high larynx, and sometimes veins. She’s good but when her and Natty had a little singing competition with Haewon and Lily, it was almost unfair. Haewon and Lily are miles ahead of Belle and Natty and it’s apparent when they were on that show with Jonathan. People might call me a hater for saying this, but this is just how I feel 🤷♀️

2024-07-30 11:55:49 +0000 UTCyour comments on belle's voice definitely made something click in my head. i wholeheartedly agree with needing to build her own style because not even just her, but a lot of idols just try to imitate something that's ultimately not themselves or what suits their voice to the fullest. i feel like some singers forget that singing is a lot like talking regularly so if it seems like you're pushing to get a note out just try singing in a more spoken way. so much of what's going on in your head can get in the way of you singing and i feel like that's also part of what is going on with belle (like overthinking that a high note is high). overall excited for the future though because there's definitely a lot of potential

2024-07-30 11:41:46 +0000 UTC1) Nattys tone is so special, I adore it so much! 2) Your comments about Belle’s voice sounding like it holds a lot of tension is so real and one of the biggest reasons I find myself not gravitating towards her voice that much. To me, it sounds much like if I took a rubber band and pulled it as taut as I could without it breaking and it sounds very tight. 3) Haneul’s voice is something I’m loving more and more with every single live performance that comes out! Her confidence is clearly growing and her tone has a depth to it that may not be very clear but it stands out against the other girls and it sounds so pretty! 4) I love your insights so much!! It’s a good day when you react to something I like because your general musical knowledge is so fun to learn from!
