Jungkook Golden Album Review

ONE thing about this young man he WILL sing!

I do find it to be on the pop mainstream side that's ticking particular boxes but also the album he wanted to make at this time which is fine, I just want sooo much more from him.

He's still my pookie though.

Enjoy!

This album is Justin Timerberlake coded. But still love JK. He’s definitely came so far like I’m so proud of him. I can tell he coming to his identity he’s literally born to be a star can’t deny that.

Deme Dacosta

hey idk if you saw but there's a lee mujin service with zhang hao as the guest and was hoping you could react to it! i think there was a good variety of songs he sang and i think you would like it!

Hana Eccleston

Yes that's the thing, he was always going to find success but in the long run if he doesn't grow or get out of his generic bag people WILL get tired of it just like people got tired of those guys, especially Charlie Puth.

Koko3op

Yeah. Standing Next to You was the best song and gave me pop JK that I wanted. Everything else is 🫤 I agree when you said some folks are gonna force themselves to like this album because it’s JK. I Iike Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, etc. but I don’t love them. Knowing JK is inspired by them, I already knew this album wasn’t going to be for me. He said he wants to try different genres but 🤷🏾‍♀️ BTS is one of my favorite groups and I prefer JK there than as a soloist. And I think a lot of other people do, too, but won’t admit it. Oh well. Glad he’s found success as a soloist tho.

Taraaaaaaa

Chile, when I saw his name on the credits I already knew lol

Taylor B. Tyler

btw iheartradio just put out YouTube videos of Jungkook singing standing next to you and seven. they are really good if you want to check them out!

josie dean

OH ok thanks for letting me know the name I do NAWT wanna see in future productions credits haha.

Koko3op

Yess we are in totally agreement!

Koko3op

Spill the tea! Which ones did you like and which ones will you not listen to again?

Koko3op

THIS!!

Koko3op

I agree, the direction music is going now just sucks because it's getting shorter and shorter and less fleshed out.

Koko3op

Hahah i think you spelt it right but it's close enough

Koko3op

JK said he's dropping some Korean songs as well, so I know sonically more diversity is coming. The songs I really liked on the album was Standing Next To You, Somebody, Yes or No (the way it grew on me but that's because there's a melody in there that sounds so much like Usher's "U got it Bad"), and Please Don't Change. Other than that I agree - I think it's time BTS & JK left David Stewart in 2023 (He did 3D, Shot Glass of Tears, and Too Sad to Dance and Permission to Dance) which were the ones I disliked the most. But I think this album is going to hit it's overall target audience which I think was the goal. I gave it a "C" cause I'm more Pop-R&B leaning and JKs vocals is going to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the songs that didn't make my list. But I'm excited to see whats next from him

Taylor B. Tyler

I had low expectations for the album, as I wasn't the biggest fan of Seven or 3D and outside of Still With You, Begin, and My Time, I've never been a big fan of JK's solo works. I came out of the album not really liking anything but Standing Next to You. I think Standing Next to You is fantastic because it doesn't sound like anything else on the album and has more interesting production. I may be a bit biased because the song is so nostalgic for me. I love the funk and the 80s sound and feel of the song. His vocals were immaculate and the choreo is so fun and fresh like you said. It was disappointing to go listen to the album and see him transition back into the other generic tracks but I like to believe JK is happy with what he's put out so I'm happy for him and it's his first big release so I'll let it slide this time lol. The next time he releases something tho, I'm hoping for more R&B JK because I think that's really where he shines.

Ah and thank u for your honest reaction 💜

Yeah same here.. considering his previous work and what he can do this feels soulless.. generic pop 😓😓 besides seven and standing next 2 you - even 3d - not one of the songs had a impact on me.. he has sooo much potential but this feels rushed .. like a potpourri of all the main pop singers but not quite as good! And the bitter part? In my opinion HE CAN BE THE BEST ..

Ra Ku

I love Jungkook with my whole heart but the structure of his (and other artists) recent songs frustrate me. I feel that every song is just pre-chorus, chorus, pre-chorus, chorus. It's like they just completely forget about bridges and the parts that elevate it to the next level. my favorite part of songs, in general, is when the bridge takes me to a different place and then smoothly goes back to the chorus. Music feels dull or unfinished when they don't have those parts. Of course his voice is amazing but I just wish his songs were longer because it gives it time to build.

listen jk is my bias in bts and i was expecting a lot from this album since i've been waiting so long for it. i wasn't disappointed but i wasn't overwhelmed either. i definitely agree with you on how i want so much more from him just bc we all know how talented he is but he's out here making the music he wants so i'm happy for him :) also not surprised at this point but loved your reaction!

Hana Eccleston

I think Jungkook wanted to kick off his chapter 2 career just exploring things outside of BTS mostly and this solo album is pretty indicative of that. I’m hoping his next project is more of a testament to his artistry (and I don’t even mean that he has to write or produce or whatever, just do MORE like we all know he can do vocally) than ig just getting ‘acquainted’ with the western music world outside of BTS like he’s done here. I will say even as boring and underwhelming as most of the songs were, he still sounds flawless 🤣 god has favourites smh Hate you sounds like something Billie Eilish would release. You mentioned Labrynth (how tf do you spell this man’s name omg) which I can hear but idk that’s what I hear.

I was waiting to hear something more similar to my time kookie. Love is not over kookie. Ima need to him pull at 2014 jb move and come out with some rnb bangers. I really love standing next to you though such personality shines in the song

Juda Culp

I hear you sister!!

Koko3op

4/10, out of the new songs I only like closer to you and somebody. The rest were not my taste and just straight boring and so many sad songs. I expected this album to be good because I liked all the previous tracks he dropped before and this album was very disappointing.
