I agree with your "It's rare that I see good hugs like that on Korean variety programs" statement. Especially when the hugs aren't groupmate + groupmate. I think what's different here is that Wanteez is put on entirely by KQ, so almost everyone they interact with is a member of staff, and KQ staff and artists are notoriously close-knit. If I had to guess, I'd say that wasn't their first hug. Not even close.
