I’m sure most of you have heard of Dragoneer’s sudden passing yesterday. While I don’t know much about he as an individual, I do know he’s at least to thank for the continued existence of FurAffinity, and for that I’m extremely grateful. It’s a platform I used to explore my interest in the furry community and what eventually blossomed into a business born of my eventual acceptance of that part of me.
Now a concern does arise among FA users: What does this mean for the future of FA? I saw this from Discord, and of course, am a little stressed. I’m fairly hopeful a new owner will stand in and will keep the site from shuttering- a VAST number of people want to keep the website around. But even so, I’m hoping if a new owner does step in, they won’t flip the policies of content and such of FA upside-down, although I doubt any true puritans will want to touch it.
It’s safe to say I’m making a “Plan B” if something really does happen to FA. I’m not trying to be alarmist of course, because again, I’m hopeful things will be fine and will continue as per normal. But this is a “just in case” measure because I just think that’s smart.
I’ve made an Inkbunny as my safety bunker for the time being. It won’t have content yet, and likely won’t unless FA seriously does something dramatic. But it’ll be my side account if you guys need to find me elsewhere in that instance:
I’ll also probably make an Instagram (already thought of making one to branch out anyway, so regardless, it’s happening), and MIGHT (BIG might) make an X account. Really don’t wanna have to do that though. :3;;
A similar post will be made on FA as well.
Thanks all for bearing with me, and once again: RIP, Dragoneer.
