Colonial Showcase | Matron
Added 2021-07-25 03:14:22 +0000 UTCI know it's been a while since my last post, work has picked up a bit lately so I haven't had much time to work on the mod, and there have been delays on the scripting side of things for the sprites I've already completed.
Today however, I get to show you the first Colonial Pirate ship!
The Matron is a carrier, and the largest ship the Colonial Pirates will have access to starting out. It's most distinguishable trait being it's 4 bays, more than any cruiser carrier in vanilla. Otherwise it's a fairly uninteresting ship, with a throwaway subsystem and anemic weapons package.
It is at least worth pointing to the naming conventions at play here. Much like their human counterparts, the Colonial Pirates are anarchists above all else, they despise polite society and when it comes time to do something clerical like naming a ship, they make up their own rules, rather than using those of the society they fled from. In this particular instance, while the Colonial Government prefers to adopt the use of proper nouns (that don't have actual translations) for military vessels, the colonial pirates use concepts of power and violence, which can (more or less) be converted into plain English.
