Ragecraft IV Teaser #18: Potions, Debuffs, and Synergies

Over the past month I've been working on boss fights, but I won't spoil any of those. So instead, here is another teaser about item mechanics because someone asked for it :D

Similar to RC3, there are "infinite" splash potions in RC4. Unlike RC3, these splash potions need a few seconds to refill (pay attention to the toolbar in the video), so you cannot spam them like a maniac. The fairly basic early-game potion in the video applies two low-level debuffs, Wither II and Slowness I.

Another thing I wanted to showcase in the same video: Item synergies. There are tons of different synergies between custom items (or item types) in RC4, enabling some very distinct playstyles. For instance, the weapon I am wielding here has an ability called "Rotblast", which unleashes a noxious explosion whenever you hit a mob that is affected by at least two debuffs. The damage scales with the number of debuffs on the target, so it synergizes with a debuff-heavy playstyle.

Alright! Everything you said sounds awesome! And no worries about the late reply, that's completely understandable!

Ian

Hey Ian, sorry for the late response, I've been super busy with work. There are many different possible playstyles available to the player in RC4, including abilities that make you more mobile (and I am not just taking about speed and jump boost buffs). And on the topic of mob design: There is a mix of mobs with low and high HP. The high HP ones usually have powerful abilities that make them more interesting to fight, like the ones in the last video. It's similar to an ARPG where you often have a "rare" enemy surrounded by a group of smaller enemies.
