WTF is this trend of videos on the Chinese internet?
China is experiencing a phenomenon of sloth content.
It's showcasing people living in Internet cafes, E-Sports Hotels, being straight up homeless, and subsisting on crappy Chinese cell phone games, or internet gambling sites/game sites.
It's interesting because the Chinese government doesn't want this "lie flat" phenomenon to take off, but it also wants the lower rungs of society to be happy with almost nothing. We think this content is allowed to proliferate because it allows the lower income class to realize they can survive on very little, and all they need is their devices to keep them occupied.
