2021-10-22 03:04:19 +0000 UTCPoop Collection Bags surely… So glad that it was the plastic in the bags and not the poop that brought back memories. Never had a new Mac from the ‘80s to smell but the polystyrene from Sinclair’s computer boxes instantly reminds me of receiving a new computer - either the ZX81 or ZX Spectrum - even though the computers were never kept in their original boxes, unlike some in my collection. As for solder fumes, “I love the smell of lead in the morning…” Although it’s probably the smell of rosin flux evaporating that produces that nostalgic reaction.
