Sei Yamagata doesn’t seem to have been a particularly prolific ero-artist, but he had a pleasingly chunky style with really nice use of spot blacks. I wasn’t able to find out much about his career otherwise; to look at his art, I would assume he was a professional, but going on the afterward page in his book Graduation, it sounds like he didn’t enjoy working on manga that much…

I regret saying this would be done in a week, I should have known that would doom it. The colors did not go my way in particular, but I think CSP’s retro film filter has once again hidden a multitude of sins.

Some Notes on Colors [Felicia Pinup / Process Breakdown]

When I did my last attempt at explaining my working process, it was on a piece with fairly simple colors, so I thought it would probably be worth going through the colors in a little more detail on something more complex.

Wew. The colors took a bit of work, but I’m pretty happy with this. It’s a bit overpowering unless you tweak the settings, but the ‘retro film’ filter in CSP puts a good warm highlight on one side of the canvas, so that saved me some time. I also regret a little bit not blocking out the background in Blender, but it’s been so long since I’ve tried that it never occurred to me until it was too late.

Feels like I draw a Strapon alt for everyone. Just sayin’.

But yeah, I wasn’t that happy with how the background text worked out. Unsurprisingly, I think the moral of the story is that if you’re gonna add something like that, it’s a lot easier if you plan for it from the start instead of trying to add it in as an afterthought.

Not a big update compared to the previous one, but I did want to see if I could get any more mileage out of the movement effect. Not sure how I feel about it overall, but it can be an alt for the original, if nothing else.
