2025-01-21 13:45:31 +0000 UTCI think part of this you can pin on Darnold because of how he handled the situation mirrored his days with the Jets. That may not be fair, but if he's going to curl away and take sacks instead of stepping up and getting rid of the ball you have to question it. Part of this is on the coach, but I do wonder how much of this is also Darnold's limitations, where with McCarthy we have seen - very small sample sizes mind you - examples of him stepping up and making throws and taking a hit instead of protecting himself for the sack. These may just be a part of his limitations. I do think they move on from him as he's going to get 40+/year from at least one desperate team and that's just too expensive for what he brings to the table.

2025-01-17 02:34:02 +0000 UTCWe can't pin this one on Sam, but he didn't do himself any favors either. Not sure anyone on O can be proud of their performance. Felt like there wasn't a great plan for pressure since all the check-downs were chipping first and the rush would still get home even with 4. Would love to see 14 again next year with more talent around (protecting) him but if he's getting paid $40m/yr I'm not sure how we can upgrade that talent. Praying KO can develop J.J like he has every other QB so far.
