Anthony Richardson Week 12 Analysis

Comments

Really appreciate the breakdown JT! Hopefully the OL gets healthy soon to give AR a better chance to succeed.

Matt

Rodrigo is an athlete hey now!

Mike Steinetz

Totally agree: more #10 please! AD Mitchell will be scary with run aways soon. Colts offense is full of big play (potential for now). They should continue molding around AR like Panthers did with Cam. Will be fun for the next ~5 years.

Steve

Yeah, it's gonna be rough. Hopefully oline gets healthy after the bye week.

Life long Colts fan. I love AR and every time I watch your breakdowns I believe he’s gonna be so great. He’s right there. Thanks JT!

Definitely true about context being important; I'm going off what my non expert eyes see on the broadcast each week. I don't have access to tape other than what JT puts up so I may be overly harsh. The ones that worry me are the 1 on 1 blocks where he gets dump trucked or takes a huge L. They have high hopes for Bortolini as Kelly's replacement at C but he is struggling right now. Having Raimann out at LT hurts a lot. Braden Smith is nearing the end at RT too. He's basically playing on one leg at this point. Goncalves, who is filling in for Raimann, was drafted to be Smith's replacement. Tucker at RG has a red dot on his chest every week. Not sure what the answer is there with Fries done for the year. They signed Glowinski off a practice squad but not sure if that moves the needle. Anyway, long way of saying it could be a bumpy ride until Raimann gets healthy and the rookies improve.

The uniforms are the "Indiana Nights" alternates. I also like them (love the helmets). They're not perfect, but they're a nice change. AD Mitchell (indeed out of Texas) has had some consistency issues (and I think sometimes he freelances a little on routes) and has just been getting sprinkled into the offense. The Colts are starting backups at LT, C, and RG. LT and C are holding up ok, but undrafted Dalton Tucker at RG has been rough. Combine that with Big Q's worst day as a pro, and the OL errors (and a bad PI call) really led the offense stinking up the joint. I don't feel like AR's play was horrid (I'm sure he wants a couple of the throws back), and was generally ok. 11 is our guy in that he's playing through a back injury that they considered putting him on IR for. He's gutting it out and I think when he feels much better, we get games like this. He doesn't shy away from doing the dirty work either. I just don't understand why we give Dulin (#16) reps instead of Mitchell. If Downs (shoulder week-to-week) is going to miss time, I want to see Mitchell in the game, not Dulin.

Eric Blanc

Is he getting older? yes and probably not the top player he once was. I haven't dug into it, but how many of these bad reps have been with the starting 5 compared to being alongside backups and rookies. No excuses, he absolutely needs to play better, but if it's mostly alongside the backups/rookies, it does give more context.

Don't we just love when the RT has been so late on every wrap block that he straight gives up on the last rep.... Just leave AR out there to break 3 tackles.

CJ Burnett

Thanks for shoveling the horse shit, JT. OLine let us down today. Steichen wasn't perfect in his play calling but the penalties and execution were nowhere near good enough. AR obviously has tons of work to do but easy call to stick with him. That 42:00 missed read. Ugh. 11 is still not our guy but if he can live in this world, he can be a value add. Maybe carve out a late career Anquan Boldin contested catch role. Ok so we think our Jeopardy buzzer is busted cause we were on the Check it Out! references since last week's AR tape. This week's reference is easy, Donny. Lions are fuckin rug pissers, man. The unis are called Indiana Nights. Nice change of pace. #10 is AD Mitchell from Texas. He was the one who beat Sauce on the mesh rail(?) in last week's tape. Guessing reps like 30:00 where he runs out of bounds for no reason are why he's not in the game plan much. He looks so explosive though. Emily really likes the Xs and Os stuff. Learning all this stuff is like drinking from a firehose at times and the concrete examples help a lot. We'll both be doing tons of Xs and Os stuff in the off-season.

Eric

Do Jalen MILROE vs Oklahoma next please thank you

DrwBucket

At this point in his career, Q Ball is a little overrated. He's still good but he's not the same consensus all pro type anymore. Bad reps have been steadily creeping into the film.

Eric

Thanks for this. Yeah I’m watching this game and all I can think of is what if AR had Brock Bowers right now.

Millennial Nerds

The oline is usually a strength. But they are beat up and starting 3 rookies right now, including 1 undrafted rookie. So it's not good at. Big Q's worst game as a pro by a mile too. Doesn't help that the TE aren't helping anything either.
