Caleb Williams Week 12 Analysis

Comments

Susan Boyle = Brooklyn Nine reference?

Lorenzo Andrade

Good news is that the first half of the next video should take 10 mins.

Bill Cahoon

The most literal DJ effort formula, based on what you said on the video would be: 2’s(E)=wtf?*gtfo

Kevin

I decided to use an equation for effort that always equaled 0 because you said you wanted to use the graphic only when DJ’s effort on a play was trash. Plus, I just think it’s both funny and true to define effort by the number of fucks someone gives

Kevin

DJ Effort Equation: 2’s(ef)=0t+R^2b/#fg DJ’s effort = 0 targets + required to block divided by number of fucks given. Because 0 fucks will be given if DJ is not targeted or must block on a play, the effort equation will always equal 0 effort.

Kevin

If I were ever in a scenario in which I had to correctly answer a trivia question in order to live, I would pray to God the question would be "Using only this Chicago Bears Offensive all 22 film from Week 12 of the 2024-2025 season, correctly identify the player who signed a very lucrative, mostly guaranteed, contract extension in the previous offseason." Easiest. Question/Answer. Of. My Life.

Justin Henry

Tyler Locket is also a big guy when it comes to giving yourself up as a WR

Braxton Myers

E^2=MC obvious play on E=MC^2. Would be Effort to the power of 2 equals Malicious Compliance.

Jason Telford

Is it possible that when Rome had the pick play on 4th and 4 which opened up Keenan Allen, that CW18 was worried if would be OPI on Rome if he threw it to Keenan Allen?

David Micah Ritchie

2^e=? you would say this as "2 to the power of effort." Could turn that into "the power of 2's effort is questionable" or something. When writing it out, e would be a superscript. Also since e is a constant the real solution to 2^e is ~6.58.

Matt Fries

DJ x Effort = 🥱

Joseph Heidenreich

Saw your reaction to Jeff Saturday’s comments. What’s stopping the Bears from firing Flus Thursday and then turning around and hiring Mike Vrabel Friday? If they believe he’s the guy, why not do something radical, a departure from your head against the wall, mom and pop past? Gives him time to evaluate Brown and staff as well as establish a foundation with the players going into the offseason. He’ll also be able to work with Poles on who he views are core guys.

Curtis Grant

lol

The QB School

How is DJ getting away with this nonsense?? This not normal in NFL locker rooms?

Brandon Harris

Limited*.. just like the route tree

Lish

ppl at the front door, kids home, tree trimming. No panic in this program JT

Sean McLeod

Mahalo 🤙 One of my old ESL buddies was half Hawaiian and he put me onto it. Hadn't thought about it in years.

Eric

yup. north shore. nice haole.

The QB School

loafs are usually D stats imo but ya i get ya

The QB School

What's funny is that Eberflus has a "loaf" system that tracks all the times you don't go full effort. There's no way he hasn't been called out unless that system has gone away.

Mac B

We really appreciate the effort to create some fun with the effort equation stuff, references (north shore?), and general Xs and Os. Interesting to see Thomas Brown's impact this week but overall, it's tough to get locked in seeing the same problems week after week without much progress. My Bears 📒 looks pretty much the same since we joined. The diminishing returns from a learning perspective makes these easily our least favorite breakdowns each week.

Eric

Please God make an hour long cut-up of 2 and just post it to X – fuck, it could be three hours long

Jack MacArthur

#2*Effort < 100

SP

This is so clean.

Eric

If it's a positive number, he was a value added on the play or for the day. I equated effort and value because they are functionally the same with him. When he tries and routes are tailored to his skill set, he adds value.

Eric

KBD, which is a modified entropy formula for Kirkland brand Deebo: Δ E(2) = -1.5K + -2.0B + 3.0D + -1.3W K = # of plays he is the 2nd read or below. B = # of plays with a blocking assignment. D = # of plays he runs Deebo routes W = # of play running non-Deebo routes (Waldron routes) This shows both his effort and value added over the course of a game and for individual plays. Play around with the weights as you see fit; I'm still on my 1st cup of coffee.

Eric

That's for sure

Dan Kunze

too easy

The QB School

haha

The QB School

i guess for me this looks like 2xeffort which it aint

The QB School

DJM formula. E = (F^5 + S^2 - T^5 - L^10). F = when DJM is first read, S = when DJM is second read; T = when DJM is third read; L = DJM is 4th read or later or the decoy. Put zeros in place of the variable when he’s not that read. Goes from positive effort to dramatically negative effort as he’s a later read.

Jeffrey Stoll

For the DJ Moore equation, you are trying to solve for an unknown, defined as "x". So if "X" is the percentage of effort, an equation would look like this maybe: 2effort = X%

Dan Kunze

what are the odds we see a video about the other 300 yd QB in this game 😁

Erik Martinez

U said it plainly about the disconnect between 18 and 2. For me it started in Houston when Caleb was getting slaughtered and DJ was showing him up, throwing his helmet and waving his arms all around when he didn't get the ball. For a rookie in his first prime time game to get that treatment, from his own guy ... That shit has gotta stick with you. And good for Caleb for keeping a long memory if that's the case. And if all my conspiracy theory is happening, you gotta trade DJ in the season.

sean quincey

Please put together the cut up of DJ and his minimal effort. It’s like some fans think we’re making this up. My question is why do you believe he’s doing this? He gets paid, and now this bull jive?? Like you said, it’s nowhere near good enough and someone definitely should be in his face.

Brandon Harris

FWIW, I very much care about the holiday light customization options and the way it's being forced on you, apparently, by whatever HOA or similar situation.

Jay Rigdon

If 2 has 7 touches, but is given 6 clear routes and 18 blocking assignments, he will have an effort rating of 0.291, or 29.1% for the game

Cody Britt

E(2) = T/(CR+BA). E is effort, T is touches, CR is clear routes, BA is blocking assignments. Will give the perfect % every time

Cody Britt

what coach would you like to see with Caleb next year? Do you think Ben Johnson would be a good fit? (he’s obviously the hot name but works with Jared Goff obviously much different players dynamically)

Jackson Howarth

E/DJ = X%

Jackson Howarth

E(2)=0 where E is an effort function. If DJ is trying then it equals 1, but if he's not trying then it equals 0.

Mak

DJME = PCHGTB * 1 DJME (DJ Moore Effort) = PCHGTB (Percentage Chance He Gets The Ball) * (1) Example: DJ has a 25% chance of getting the ball on the play. DJME = .25 * (1) = 25%

Mike P

2 ≠ E

Lish

That’s a very good point here

Bill Miller

I think Caleb’s toss to Keenan on the sail was ballsy but he knew what he was doing. No way he zips that shit that hard if all he saw was the back of the one defender. He knew he had the luxury of DJ in the flat & decided to show off

Brennan Merkle

My opinion on Thomas Brown telling Caleb to be superman is that it's in response to Eberflus pushing his quarterbacks to not make mistakes at any cost. It was obvious with Fields and with Caleb until Waldron was fired that the quarterbacks were overthinking and playing timid.

Rob

Love to see that Caleb’s progressing. Gives me hope for the future even with this godforsaken franchise. But what’s with Caleb’s sideline deep ball? Feel like he’s airmailing it every time.

Aaron

Goddamnit I love this show!

Dominic Cassata

big thanks for the express reaction--would prefer it hooked directly to my veins but this is the absolute next best option

Jim Andresen

JT... it's finally happening. Get this kid an ounce of coaching and let the good times roll.

Jim Andresen

good to know, I figured the Deebo comp was limited route tree and yac ability but thats funny that it extends to effort and demeanor on film too

Ryan Sharma

E=DJ ²

Shaun Dekker

JT's gone over this in several 49er breakdowns but Deebo tends to take plays off a opportune times for himself that tend to really stand out, particularly when it's a big down. He commends him when he's given the ball in space and makes a play, something he's as good at as anyone in the league, but he's not a true WR1 because of his inability to draw the eyes of the defense to open up teammates, primarily because of his lack of effort.

ShyGuy

welcome. i talk about it most vids. imo, needs to be in there more.

The QB School

ha

The QB School

Brady mentioned not lofting it enough for one instance and it's always that similar throw/miss. My uneducated guess is excitement of a big play so would need more experience/calmness.

randysavageishere

JTO what do you see in Caleb's game that has him missing the streaking sideline 30 yard open throws. Is it mechanics, timing, or just lacking confidence?

Kyle

+Result=E(2)

Matthew Edmark

85 involved early and 2 being used like Deebo? JTO victory lap incoming! If we get some more 15 the victory lap is gonna turn into a full fucking sprint!

Cody Britt

2=BBL+ i Guy bbl= (Bad body language)

Sean McLeod

Hey JT just joined the community, excited to jump in. One question I have for you, what’re thoughts on Rome so far? He has games and spurts where he looks like a dude but also long silent stretches. Maybe that’s just the Bears offense overall, but wondering if you see anything one way or another. Either way love the videos, thank you

Lloyd Shatkin

2 things JT. I think once 13 is gone next year, whoever comes in will and needs to see what 85 can be in the passing game. He has evolved so much and into a really good player. Is there a reason you think Caleb has been missing these throws to the right(back to back to Rome near the endzone), seem like it is the throw he has struggled with the most this year. Love the videos, Bear Down baby

Jake Sellner

Effort = Load/Mechanical Advantage, or E=L/M.A. Effort = Load / Moore's Attitude. Effort goes down if his workload is low (numerator) or if his attitude is high (denominator). He is working hard when he knows he's getting extra looks, and when his attitude is nice and low

Benjamin Fink

Also not sure if you've seen this, but there was a clip of DJM from some podcast this offseason where he said he doesn't watch football other than when he has to. Basically said he sees football strictly as a job and it's not truly his passion

DrinkMyCola

E(subscript 2) = ?

Luke Jones

Eo2 for effort of 2

DrinkMyCola

nice. welcome

The QB School

it feels like every time you compare DJ to Deebo it’s with a negative connotation. obviously deebo isn’t a wr1 but he’s a pretty elite weapon no? the guy was first team all pro in ‘21. maybe I need to watch more of your Purdy breakdowns for your thoughts on him lol 😂.

Ryan Sharma

Diving in baby. I am the been waiting guy from twitter hahaha. All love JT. Excited for this

Jake Sellner

Good outcome. Eberflus is gone. Caleb progressing each week. He’s gunna be special. How about Eberflus soft defense in OT as well?

Alec Hoffman

Outcome= E/2

Nicholas Morrissey

100. the E is tough for 2 in this one

The QB School

"This was a good one" is all I ever want to see before watching a JT video. We're still behind in the SMDH/"This was a good one" ratio, but I believe in Caleb to turn it around.

Eric Dodge

Show me J Love!

Nathan Perisin

Locked in! 🐻⬇️ Ps, I’m the guy on Twitter who posted that video of DJ Moore blocking lol. Film don’t lie!

Quincy Butler

Hell yes. Best way to start a Monday

Gavin Hougo
