Blog: I got a PS5? (03/28/22 - 04/01/22)
Added 2022-04-01 19:44:41 +0000 UTCPatrons, it has been a crazy week. That's a good thing and a bad thing.
I also want to let you know that I will be taking part in the Preserved Play charity stream this weekend! We are raising money for the Video Game History Foundation. On April 2nd from 7-9pm, I'll be checking out some whacky Mario Maker 2 levels with Jirard the Completionist. You can watch on his Twitch - http://www.twitch.tv/thecompletionist
Let's dive in!

Part two is so close to being finalized! The last section needs some additional b-roll. One little factoid that I love about Super Mario World is that the colors of the Super Famicom are seen throughout the game (such as Yoshi's colors, as seen above).

We got sad news today. I don't think I mentioned this before to you all but - about a month ago, Kristin's grandma was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She chose not to receive treatment. We have been visiting her as much as possible in the evenings and weekends.
Recently, her health has rapidly declined. And today, we got a text saying that she probably only had hours to live. So we went and visited with her one last time before she passed. She couldn't speak, but they say hearing is the last thing to go in a person. So I told her I loved her and I thanked her for treating me like I was her own grandson. She was always so sweet to me.
We were sad to see her go, but also grateful that she is no longer suffering. Rest in peace, Betty.

I can finally say part one and part two are DONE. This Super Mario World soundtrack was the last bit of b-roll I needed. If you have never listened to this before, you really should! It has amazing jazz arrangements of the SMW music.

On to Part three. In this section, I cover all the crazy rumors about the Super Famicom and Super Mario World in North America. I made a few corrections to the script, then I recorded and edited the narration.
I also checked my calendar and started planning out the rest of the production. If everything goes according to plan, the video will go live on Patreon by April 21st!

Gather round, ladies and gentlemen, and I will tell you the tale of how I found a Playstation 5.
I've been looking for a PS5 for a while now, but I always seemed to miss out whenever they restocked. This morning, I was drinking my morning coffee when I happened to see a tweet from Wario64 saying that Best Buy was restocking PS5.
I downloaded the Best Buy app to confirm. The trick is to search for the Playstation 5, then filter by in-store results only. If the listing is there but says "Sold Out," that means the store has PS5s, but you can't buy them online. Sure enough, a store near me had some!
So I drove down and found a huge line outside the store. It was more confirmation that the PS5 was there. The store opened up and we were directed to just get in line at the register to purchase the system.
When it came to my turn, I walked up and...SOLD OUT. It felt like my soul had left my body. People behind me overheard and were shocked. One guy asked if they could look in the back for more. The clerk got on his little headset and asked the manager. Well, by some miracle, they did have more in the back! About 20 more, actually. I walked out with a PS5 Disc edition and Elden Ring. I can't wait to play some this weekend!
------------
Don't worry, I actually did work today as well! In an effort to free up my calendar for this month, I really pumped out some TikTok content. I finished the GameCube component cable video AND the April game sales video. I'll be working over the weekend so I can finish the Kirby's Dream Land and Super Metroid videos as well.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Don't get caught up in the April Fool's jokes!
