Blog: Research-heavy week (01/10/22 - 01/14/22)
Added 2022-01-14 21:38:28 +0000 UTCHello Patrons! This week is going to be a pretty boring blog. Remember when I said I wasn't going to go back and update my sources? Well, I decided to go back and update my sources.
This took a long time. But when I go to outline, it is going to be so much easier. It's also going to make future research so much easier.
In addition to updating sources, I also got several Japanese news segments about the Super Famicom launch translated. They are really interesting! I remember reading in the book "The Ultimate History of Video Games" that the Super Famicom launch was pure mayhem. Well, judging from these new sources, that's completely made up. The Super Famicom launch was relatively calm thanks to Nintendo insisting retailers use a reservation-ticket system to sell consoles.
On Friday, I finished up the Final Fantasy 7 TikTok video and started work on another: The top-10 best-selling games from 31 years ago. I found some sales data from February 1991 - May 1991. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any more. But I thought these would make really fun little TikTok videos. I made a little graphic for the February sales data.

Speaking of TikTok, a few people have asked if I will be uploading these videos anywhere else. Currently, I plan to upload them to TikTok and Instagram. If I did YouTube Shorts, I'd have to make a new channel. I do have a backup channel called "Gaming Historian Footnotes." What do you all think? Let me know.
Have a great weekend! I apologize this isn't like my traditional blog. But my work week was pretty untraditional. Until next time!
