It's time, once again, to vote on a topic! Last time, we voted on NES accessories. The Power Glove won by a landslide and ended up being one of the best Gaming Historian episodes!
This time, the theme is "Forgotten Franchises." I have selected 3 from each company during the retro gaming heyday.
StarTropics - Released in December of 1990, Nintendo's StarTropics was unique in that it was developed in Japan, but only released in North America & Europe. A sequel was released in 1994, but then was never heard from again.
Bonk - The hungry, bald caveman with an abnormally large head, Bonk was the mascot for Hudson Soft and the PC Engine / Turbogarfx console. Besides some mobile games, his last big release was on the Super Nintendo and Game Boy.
Alex Kidd - Before there was Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega had Alex Kidd. Although he had a string of successful games on the Master System and Genesis, Sega felt Sonic was the better choice to compete against Mario, and retired the character.
