tl;dr - I've been programming Let Me Out and preparing for the upcoming releases of it, v0.3.0 and v0.4.0.
This week's image
I selected this week's image not so much because it's particularly good but just because it had a relatively high degree of difficulty. I really had to mess around with settings a lot to get Twyla looking like this. Now that it's done I'll be able to use it again without much trouble, but it's actually just intended for one ending.
I did also make pictures for several different projects this week, but there's nothing super specific to talk about on that front other than "I'm still making pictures." :)
Let Me Out programming
The version I've got of Let Me Out right now has quite a bit more responsiveness even than the last version I put out, which was (I think) a big improvement. What I've decided to do is put in the paths to a whole bunch of the endings even if the endings themselves aren't necessarily ready yet.
I'm also trying to make the game a little easier. I still want you to feel like you're coming up with the ideas and having a real conversation rather than just finding the specific stuff I've laid out for you, but I'm rewarding you a bit more for finding some things and, more importantly, laying out more for you to find so that more of your own ideas will actually work.
If you've played it before then make sure next time you play that you try some of the stuff that didn't work last time. I'm trying to make everything work! (Oh, and if you want your ideas in the game then send me a transcript! I'll implement stuff!)
Upcoming LMO releases
My plan (I don't know if I've mentioned this yet) is that I'm going to release v0.3.0 publicly, but around the same time I'll release version 0.4.0 with more endings. Maybe I'll make v0.3.0 available a little bit earlier for patrons and then put it out publicly when I release 0.4.0 for patrons.
I need to do a public release for promotional reasons (bleh, I hate doing that kind of thing but it's necessary) but I also want to have something specifically for patrons that is good, so it's just going to have less placeholders, more proper endings.
I'm looking forward to putting these out because I'm happy about the progress we've been making. The game is just calling to me... it's saying, "let me out!"
Kind of a short update this week. I've been talking so much this last week with my last long update and the public announcement of the PAL expansion that maybe I've got less to say. I have been doing quite a bit of development, though. Anyway, maybe you've got something to say to me? If so, drop it in the comments!
