While she may be snake in disguise most of the time, I feel like when it comes to the Kamiya family she has a sense of loyalty and respect for Hiroto that shed never betray them, unless she thought it was for the benefit of Hiroto. But stranger things have happenedā¦lol

Ive noticed he drops subtle hints and strange encounters that all of a sudden come to light later on, just about far enough into the story that you almost forgot about that mention earlier on. I think she wants to know him and well, she will now get to be a great pain in the backside to Sidorov, which I am sure he will not be happy once he realizes shes related to Rei. I assume because she is of Kamiya blood she is very talented especially considering the school she came from and the top notch trainers Im sure shes had (even though her mom and dad seem to be fools!) I cannot wait for them to meet, pretty sure Jasper will have a hand in that part as well. SO many good things going on at once with this story the upcoming chapters are going to be SO good!

It's mentioned in chapter 30 during the conversation firesong is having while walking to the dining hall after Viv tests Endwalker for the first time. Basically Viv says she's surprised nobody has found out about the sponsorship yet with so many people coming and going through the south gate resulting in Rei telling her she'd be surprised but it's part of a bigger conversation and then through the course of that he tells her that it's part of the Kamiya conversation and after a bit more of the story it goes on to describe Viv having to bat back a flare in her gut because since she's woken up Rei has said nothing about Kamiya Hiroto and his as of yet unmet sister other than the fact that they exist.

2025-03-25 20:11:55 +0000 UTCWould make for a really funky plot twist if Jasper turns out to be aligned with Reis father and Sarah who is presented as a highly talented user, which almost certainly means hard working, turns out to be aligned with her fathers hedonistic ways and Jasper is secretly working for them. I just don't see it. I think Sidorov will be the direct villain for now, perhaps Reece could have a cameo at some point. Looking forward to the drama.

I think a better way for me to have put it is that the chapter is well written and makes sense with the Sarah portion of the storyline, but I think the latest chapter may be a little early based on how little her existence has been referenced in the writing so far, and I think Bryce should probably give us a little more context to help us understand her reasonings for making such an extreme change in her life before following through with the plot line regarding her transfer to Galens.

But I also think Dent may known as well based off of how she was giving Rei strange looks when Von Bor was telling the team that Lennon was not present at training due to being tasked with helping out a new transfer student.

Another piece of evidence for it is the start of the chapter says "one week later", and when Abigail comes into Hiroto's office she says "your granddaughter has just arrived at Galen's." I doubt it would take a week for Hiroto to find out she arrived there, and if that were the case I think Abigail would have used different language so she didn't imply Sarah got there that day.

I imagine within this book we will get the answer as to why she chose to transfer, so not knowing anything about it yet is fine, although imagine growing up being told your younger brother died at birth only to find out your parents lied to you... My bet is she wants to be able to meet and get to know Rei, to make up for a lifetime of not knowing her brother.

We don't know anything about Sarah so she may be her Dad 2.0 for all we know and be completely selfish.

I have a younger brother that I am close to, and I would do literally anything to reunite with him if he was ever taken from me. Jasper knows Rei's childhood. She's done her research. She knows how he was abandoned, how he grew up with the constant surgeries and no friends until Viv and then Firesong. She also knows that Rei would never ask for help dealing with his traumas. He's proven too stubborn. So, why not help Sarah get to Rei? Why not provide the golden opportunity for BOTH siblings to find closure? Sarah obviously needs it too given its implied that she was told her brother died at birth just like Hiroto had been told. And now, here her brother is, like a damn ghost in the dark of her parents' lies? She needs that closure just as much as Rei

"I'm so going to kill him," implies she's pissed at a male figure. And given that we now know that Keiji is the idiot who listened to Samantha about abandoning Rei, and the fact that Hiroto acted so desperately to find Rei? It points to Sarah hating her father in this moment. Especially if Jasper read her in on Hiroto's efforts to bring Rei in to the family, first through the sponsorship.

Sarah's parents probably told her Rei died at birth just like they told Hiroto. I know that if I had been told my brother died before I could meet him, I'd be devastated. And then she finds out that he's actually alive and that her parents abandoned him??? From a sibling standpoint I would claw my way to see my brother. And Jasper is helping that along. I also think that Jasper is trying to give Rei the opportunity to have a family, to know familial love. Which, while Rei has his friends, he has a lot of trauma regarding his family and he needs the closure. I think Jasper is trying to give him that.

Specifically, Hiroto and Sarah. I don't think Sarah is evil, I believe that she wants to meet Rey on her own terms. Although, it was a bit vague on who she wants to kill her father, grandfather, or Rey. But at this point I'm going with her father. If Jasper thought the news of Rey would have placed a rift between Sarah and Hiroto, I don't believe she would have showed the video to her. So far throughout the books Jasper has shown nothing but loyalty and respect for Hiroto. If Sarah posed a threat to Rey, then I believe Hiroto would have acted differently in the last chapter. Instead, he is worried about messing up his relationship with Sarah. We have seen how much importance he places on Rey. This indicates to me he is not concerned that Sarah will cause Rey harm. I could be wrong, just my thoughts. I really like the chapters that deal with Rey's family.

The cadet waiting at Grossās office is Dice, not Sarah. I say this because one of the request to finding this new partner for Viv, was that they had to be a duelists, which Dice is. We do not know what type Sarah is as of yet. Second, Grossās surprise is that he knows Dice would be a great fit and she just fell into his lap. Not to mention he is both Dice and Vivās type instructor. So not only does he know how good she is, but he also knows that she will give Viv every bit of push that she needs. Oh and he also knows that she is looking for more herself. In a previous chapter after Lenon came back from a training session she mentions how she needs to get stronger herself because she also felt like she was falling behind. Which aligns with what Viv had going on. Lastly she is the girlfriend of Lenon, who has given her bits and pieces of info. She would not have to be read in to all new information but she would get information to tie up loose ends. She already knows about Rai and his abilities, she is already familiar with the squad, somewhat, and she knows about some info on Viv. She is again the prefect fit and Gross knows it he just doesnāt know just how much yet.

2025-03-22 18:44:48 +0000 UTCAs for the Sarah Kamiya chapter, while it is well written, it makes no sense to the story you've written so far because the only references we have had up to this point are that Jasper showed her a video of her little brother and she decided she was going to transfer to Galens. But after that there was absolutely nothing else to reference the who, what, when where, or why. So at this point we're all at a loss as to how this fits into the story line. While i understand in storytelling we may not get the perfect interpretation of the 5 w's, but in most cases we're at least given a hint to at least one or two. And at this point of your writing we haven't been given a idea of any of them so I once again say that I'm pretty much lost on this part of your story line.

My thought is that you need to develop the story regarding Viv's lack of conditioning with Laurent on her first day back with the squad, with Lennon going back to his room and talking to Dice about how he's worried about Viv falling behind if she doesn't get some unconventional help but he doesn't know who to go to. And then you could continue to develop the storyline you've already established with viv and dice while aligning it with the chapter you've already written about a Cadet showing up at Gross' office door in the morning.

2025-03-22 13:07:39 +0000 UTCAnother thought a had regarding my reading through the story that may negate all of your thoughts that Jasper has a nefarious intent, is the entire chapter Bryce wrote that involved Jasper using her contract with one of the major intergalactic corporations as a front to enable a battered woman and her child to escape the livelihood they were living in. Which leads me to belive the her intention with Rei and the Hiroto family has good intentions over evil. I may be wrong with my thoughts on this portion of the story, but the only way any of us will find out is to continue to wait in anticipation and let Bryce let us know how things develop through his continued writing. And I for one, can't wait to see what direction he's going to take us in.

2025-03-22 12:03:04 +0000 UTCOk, so a pretty big note from a random stranger that would point to the fact that I think most of you are wrong that Sarah is the cadet outside of Gross' office. I've read both of the first books about 5 times each already and I've read all of the pre-release chapters at least 3 to 4 times already, and from what I recall from all of those readings is that the only people aware of Rei's relationship to Sarah at this point are Rei and Firesong as well as Hiroto, Abigail, Jasper, Kenji, and Samantha. So there would be no surprise or epiphanies for Gross to include Sarah in Viv or Foresong's training at this point of the story because not only has he been just read in on the basics of their situation, but he would have absolutely no knowledge of Sarah and Rei's connection. Which leads me to beleive that the cadet outside Gross' office is going to be Dice.

It's also clearly rare that first years interact with anyone older than them. There doesn't seem to be much friendship or overlap between different years. He doesn't know Sarah at all, so why would he be surprised to see her?

Then people in the below comments pointed out that Gross was shocked when he recognized the person standing outside his door. Not sure if this is good or not. Poor Hiroto is now caught between his two grandchildren- one that has grown up with him and one that he is trying to reconcile with. Rock and hard place choice. But Rei is going to get ambushed, which is just going to prove to him that he is not important to his family- even his grandfather.

She hates her parents (who doesnāt) and sees her grandfather as her guiding family patriarch. Perhaps she is simply more like her grandfather in character - stoic, hard working and dedicated to her family and her familyās name. She has had a month to research Rei through the feeds, and Iām pretty sure Jasper filled in any blanks Sarah couldnāt find for herself. She could have chosen to ignore Rei or worse. Instead she uproots from the best academy in the Sol system to be with her brother. AND, if she is a good person who wants to reconnect with the brother she thought was lost for 18 years, then helping Viv is a selfless act of kindness/atonement. Why didnāt she tell Grandpa? Perhaps because he kept her in the dark for months. Perhaps she thought he would try to hinder or prevent her from moving to be with Rei. Final thought, you still donāt know for sure if the cadet outside Grossā door is Dice or Sarah. Originally I was betting on Dice, and now the odds are more like 50/50. Either way, I see Sarah as being a plus in Reiās camp. He may need time to accept/trust her, but I see Sarah as a positive factor. Perhaps even a buffer between Rei and Creepy McGee next year.

Or his Grandpa is incompetent when it comes to family matters and the people he trusts. Which I guess is obvious with everything we know about Reiās background. The only thing Gramps could do to salvage his reputation is to immediately contact Rei, let him know whatās coming and let him know that he had nothing to do with it. It feels like Kalus is definitely a pawn regardless. So hereās my logic: - Dent is pissed in chapter 31 when mentioning the transfer student. Thus she knows who the student is and why it will affect Rei - Dent purposely declines all Kalus logical recommendations for a training partner for Viv. Then magically Kalus calls Gross right before he meets a surprise student. Itās not a large stretch to assume Dent told Kalus to call Gross for recommendations. Now after reading Chapter 33 itās pretty clear that the surprise student was Sarah. - Dent clearly cares about Rei, but is willing to go against her feelings for the betterment of humanity. - Viv hates Reiās family more than anyone else in the multiverse. Who is better to force Viv to catch up to the others than someone she truly hates. - Sarah didnāt seem surprised by Grossās side of the conversation and was clearly told to be at his office at that time. Her contact is Jasper not the Mind Thus, thereās clearly something going on between Dent and Jasper. And I fully agree with the person several comments down that says this feels very Sith. After all that realization how obsessed Hiroto is about doing right by REI and even potentially ruining his company for him, she just plot randomly behind his back and the "Sarah is my client" is also nonsense, since we readers already know Sarah only knows because of Jasper. She showed her REI after he got SRanked. So she's been planing this or instigating this and going along maybe but anyways she is definitely not likeable in my eye. It's like with that Lennon chapter some weeks/months ago when he was hammering down on Firesong in regards to Viv. It just feels out of character, or just a way of butchering what we already know of the guy. Having Hiroto out of the loop of things in regards to Rei is a fucked up move on Jasper's part, retainment fee or not. Hell, Keiji and Samantha knew immediately, and last spoke with Hiroto a month after I'm guessing you're referring to he and Rei's chat? They have him "locked in" with a contract that he desperately needs and they do this? More toxic Kamiya Family bullshit. I don't care if Sarah is coming with open arms and tears of joy, or coming for his head. Rei should be pissed. I hope he develops Type Shift Lancer soon, and keeps the whole Kamiya Clan at spears length and at spear point from now on.

Though transferring just to kick extra mud in Reiās face after Central and her parents did might be some evil Tsundere anime personality Bryce has always wanted to writeā¦š¤£

If Lennon is supposed to meet a transfer student the same day Gross talks to Laurent, shouldn't we see that before the poor grandfather gets his legs kicked out from under him again? So, yes I think 1 or 2 chapters might be needed. Just a thought. I really get a kick out of the interactions of the Kamaya family. It is amazing what devastation one bad seed in a family can cause and what a wonderful source of comic relief that can be.

A large part of me hopes that it's just because she wants to be close to her brother, but something tells me that's not the case, and I wonder what her true motivations are. I just want Rei to at least have one person in his family he can bond with who was not part of the whole birth fiasco - whether by choice or omission.
