LOL I guess that even in the future with built in devices people can have a lapse in judgment. I’m really hoping Dice works with Viv like Lennon worked with Rei to get her up to speed so they have a close friendship too.

I do get where people are questioning Lennon’s behavior, but I look at it as if he knows more than we may think. And being read in on Viv’s ability was icing on the cake. My thought is this, he was requested to be apart of their team “sponsored “ training, he is the only cadet outside of Firesong that has seen temporal step, and he was directly contacted about Viv’s ability. Not to mention he brings up the fact that Rei’s cad is why she has this ability, yes maybe not fully knowing this or understanding how, but has an idea of the possibility that is the reason. Then he said that he should have been there, while also knowing how these things work, he still feels this way. Yes it’s out of character but for good damn reason, because he already has more info than we know. So why keep him from this? The last thought is that he wants to know how much more time will he get to train with them. Knowing that Viv is back and able to try out her new abilities may seem that his days are numbered. All of this may have caused him to be a bit more aggressive than he needed to be.

In this addition, he acts like a total jerk to Viv, the team, other first years...and for no real reason as far as we can tell other than his interest in Viv's new ability. Hope this gets rethought.

2025-01-21 15:17:45 +0000 UTCI get that. I guess I have thoughts similar to some posts above. This is Lennon. Calm, cool, in control. A guy who made intersystems as a 2nd year. You need dedication, control and drive to do that. A guy who has lectured Rei on not giving too much away about his CAD. And here he comes, storming around looking for Firesong and causing a scene. He demands answers in front of a group of on lookers and then growls and threatens a girl who was in a coma for a month. A girl he is friendly with and possibly may even be friends with someday. This is so out of character for him. It has me wondering "Whats going on in his mind? What's causing him to act so out of character to what has been presented to us so far?" I thought the same when the Viv/Grant relationship started. I asked myself "Whaaaaaa?" Only to see Bryce standing and grinning in front of a curtain. Slowly he pulled that curtain back and things fell I to place. I wasn't criticizing in my earlier comment, I was just giving voice to my curiosity. Again Bryce is grinning and I'm wondering what's behind that damn curtain.

I have a very similar approach to things as Lennon so I feel I can tell you as stoic as I am... as resilient... there comes a point ....chances are it is far beyond the point that most people would have insisted on answers but eventually my well of patience, resilience, fortitude or just the ability to accept pain runs out. And often times when it does i become insistent on answers immediately.

Maybe Shido will have a green colour for ‘close friends who aren’t Firesong’ or something :o) I suspect Firesong are having Shards growing, but others are being imbued as well. Though it could well be that many shards are growing but at different rates. Not sure on that one

2025-01-21 07:16:47 +0000 UTCThat’s the thing, based on the spec request we got a few chapters ago, and how her S0 growth is pulsing and like overwritten her old growth spec, I get the feeling that as it’s not ‘permanent’, or maybe because it’s not internal to Gemela, it not only doesn’t show to the ISCM but doesn’t get included in her CAD rank like Rei’s does

There's no way she, as a mere Captain of the ISCM, is cleared for half of what she knows and discusses with the MIND, when even other higher-ranking officers seem to be in the dark. Add that to the fact that the MIND clearly told Dent about Viv's shard, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Dent knows more than anyone what's going on, aside from maybe Abel and a few generals. It also seems like Kes has been given access to some special things as well, but that may just be par for the course when a CAD becomes sapient. I'm also interested in the MINDs apparent dislike for Abel, like Dent's. Dent, I get, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Abel was the one who ordered her to go on the mission where her team got decimated and her face half blown off, to account for that dislike - aside from just pushing Rei past his limits. I'm interested to know why the MIND has such an animosity for her, though. That's creeping into full-blown sentient territory, where the AI has fully-developed feelings. It's already shown it has a sense of humor and care, so it wouldn't be surprising, but still.

2025-01-21 05:32:12 +0000 UTCGlad I'm not the only one who was reading this and felt this isn't the usual Lennon we know from Book 1 and 2. I believe Dent's message did share more than a simple, "Viviana Arada is back, and has her own user-unique." I like to think this is more of a Dent and Lennon relationship kind of thing, with no MIND intervention. Prior to Lennon joining Firesong in their S-Rank training sessions, we got a Candice pov of Lennon mentioning Rei saving his advancement problem. I believe Lennon spoke words along those lines to Dent a handful of time for possibly more 1 on 1 training or just more excessive training. "It was almost like, just for a moment, her boyfriend had been frightened by whatever he’d read, there…" I'm willing to bet he knows by now that Rei and Shido have an effect on CADs, and with whatever Dent shared, he might be overly excited in anticipation for what it could mean for him. I'm sure he still has some restrictions like not openly bringing up what he knows, but one would have to be crazy to think Dent and the MIND aren't making moves to a better future. We still have no clue on the "why", but we do know both Dent and the MIND want Abel dead and possibly a higher up rework. Unrivaled/unseen strength is going to be a necessity for that to occur.

You know Catcher complained within Lennon’s hearing during training about also needing a unique ability “like Viv”…

2025-01-21 00:46:18 +0000 UTCI’m not sold on this theory yet, but I wonder if Lennon’s reaction was planned by either Dent or the MIND, given how it’s so out of character for him. I mean, I understand finding out that someone’s Device could influence other Device’s is big, but considering Lennon has been warned before not to ask questions, it seems odd to me that he’s letting his emotions get the best of him in this case. My theory, if I can even call it that yet, is that the MIND talked to Dent about beginning to get the information out there, as there are so many secrets in the air now. Sort of like a controlled release. And no one is going to ignore the fact that Lennon just came looking for Firesong. Maybe this was all planned by the MIND to get people talking. Maybe Dent removed the restrictions of Lennon asking questions. It would sort of be like sleight of hand. Look at my left hand so you don’t see what’s going on in my right.

Imagine if Elon came out tomorrow and said neuralink is now a true neuro-optic and will be made available to everyone. Wouldnt that be a little terrifying? That big of a leap in technology in such a short period of time? His reaction is that of a person who just learned another of their friends had a massive target put on her back

I am assuming those are the ones that are on his team (squadmates), which currently includes Lennon. As far as we know (I think?) Sense, Gisham, and Kay, and others show up as neutral (IE, white in the hud).

Dent and von Bor had some trepidation, so I totally get Lennon’s emotional state. Chef’s kiss! Wonder if Lennon will get fully read in. I mean, sure he’s a third year and leader of Steelbound, but he’s also basically part of Firesong now. And once Dice joins the endeavour, she’ll grow closer the same way I bet. I love the reaction to the other first years to Rei and Lennon, then Lennon and Firesong. Everyone surely knows Rei and Lennon are friendly, so rumours are going to spread like wildfire!! Especially as Truant was there :oD Wonder when Lennon will hit Pawn…

Possibly Gisham and Kay too. Rei is a stand up guy, the kind who’d never consider another option than helping true friends. I don’t doubt for a second Shido hasn’t picked up on that, and is acting on Rei’s intent
