Comments

Please, please do something from Burna Boy! He is a groundbreaking visionary already a legend in his own right! His whole catalogue is pure gold!!

ElleKay

For the Consequence and Kanye song, did you notice they both focus thirds of their verses on ideas that related to or ended with good, bad, then ugly? Then Consequence did it backwards to end on good for the last part of the song

Chase Cannon

I just love how your dad reacts to Erykah. She gets all of us the same way 😊

Brittany Butler

Would love to see a reaction to Ab-Soul - The Book of Soul. One of the saddest tracks I’ve ever heard! Starts off about his childhood suffering from Stevens-Johnson syndrome then goes into how his girlfriend (the singer Alohi Joh) committed suicide by jumping off a building. Brutal, but extremely beautiful.

Tom Wallace

MGMT - "Electric Feel" Janelle Monae - Django Jane

Tnulb

Theme ideas: -Feat. Lil Mo -Interesting artist name and/or song title -XXL Freshman cover artists -Storytelling

Lord Finesse and Big L were a part of a collective know as D.I.T.C. Crew which stands for Diggin' In The Crates Crew. The collective is composed of Lord Finesse, Diamond D, Big L, O.C., Fat Joe, Buckwild, Showbiz and A.G.. Big L - Put It On. He shouts out D.I.T.C. at the end of the song. But also featured on the song is DJ Kid Capri. Kid Capri credits himself with changing the sound of rnb to include more rap elements. He took Stephanie Mills' vocals from Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel) and played them over the break beat from "Impeach the President". He put the mix on a mixtape and it blew up. He had to put the song on several of his future mixtapes due to the popularity. https://youtu.be/vihnVBpntDo?si=xrGagYwqV6rkB9TE "Real Love" by MJB is an example of this.

ficy

Fun fact about Consequence: -He's Q-Tip's cousin and also a member of A Tribe Called Quest -DJ Kahled's first ever single was the song "Grammy Family" off of Cons' album -He ghost wrote a lot for Kanye -He also tried to date my sister back in high school. I would suggest Consequence fear John Legend - Feel This Way...John Legend raps

Dilated Peoples - Worst Comes To Worst You will enjoy this classic! That beat...

Jim

You should do Bob Marley hold ya head and the sample with biggie ft Bob Marley

Jr Rick

How about Rob Base n DJ Eazy Rock - It takes two E-40, TooShort n KC(from Jodici) - Rappers Ball

you guys should definitely react to J Dilla "Donuts" amazing album probably the best instrumental hip hop album ever released and a masterclass in sampling also i recommend checking out this video which will really give your dad some knowledge on how Sampling is used in Hip Hop and what techniques are used to create Hip Hop beats:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SENzTt3ftiU

will brewer

Sold me! We will cover this next week.

The FrontRoom

Same lol

Lilspiceboxx f

Dad heard A Good Day by Ice Cube, which sampled Footsteps in the Dark. That would’ve been good for this week.

Jen M

I will keep suggesting great songs until you listen to one and see how great it is! Hehe. So for next week I suggest "Wish You Were Here" by Incubus. A song from a band that transcends genres and use turn-tables in a alt-rock/alt-metal band, with a lead singer with amazing vocal range and smooth voice and powerful guitar riffs aswell as hard drums that sometimes tone down into these really quite beautiful strummed light chords.

Theo Holmgren

PC #15 suggestions: I'm Bad by LL Cool J and/or One in a Million by Aaliyah. I don't think you've covered either artist yet.

Kenysha

Alex Isley & Jack Dine - Under the Moon (her father is Ernie Isley, the guitarist in the group the Isley brothers) Footsteps in the Dark - The Isley Brothers (Dad may have heard this one)

Kat

Good to know, thanks. (dad)

The FrontRoom

Suggestion for #15 Ama Lou "Trust Nobody" Or Amel Larriueux "make me whole"

jeff baker

My all time favorite Kim verse! She's the prototype for the hardcore female rapper. Without Kim, there's no Nicki, no Cardi, no City Girls, etc.

Kenysha

yea.. I dont know what I was thinking haha, must have confused him for something else. a bit further, after we started listening to him, I checked where he was from cause he sounded so east coast

The FrontRoom

Lord Finesse is from the Bronx, NYC

jeff baker

Qadir by Nick Hakim is my suggestion for next week

Ruben Reyes

For the next samples episode, I’m suggesting Juicy Fruit by Mtume which was also sampled by Biggie in his song Juicy.

Dee

Sylvia Stiplin was on Roy Ayer’s record label. I’m sure he wrote the music and possibly the lyrics for “can’t turn me away”. Sylvia also sang in “Aquarian Dream” and “Ladies of the Eighties”, both groups are associated with Roy Ayer’s.

Simira

Is there a theme for next week? If not, how about a little Lenny Kravitz? I mean dad likes Jimi Hendrix right? He inspired Lenny. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤣

Jen M

I had forgotten how raw that was! I remember the radio version. 🤣

Jen M

The Golden Age of Hip-hop is widely considered as 1988-1995.

Damon K. Stephens

Lil Kim was one of the first, if not first raw female rappers. She is the blueprint for a lot of current popular female rappers. Uncle Luke/2 Live Crew came out in around 87 and they had very explicit sexual lyrics. He was sued by the gov for his lyricsand went up to the Supreme Court and eventually won in 1994

Simira

Dad wasn't ready for Lil' Kim. Big produced Kim's vocals.

Damon K. Stephens

Man…when that first song came on, I really just wanted to sing, “Get Money!” 😂🤣 💃🏾 Lil Kim’s version 😂 but it was definitely giving Minnie Riperton vibes.

Jen M

Tricky - Hell Is Round The Corner P.S. I believe it's a crime you guys haven't reacted to a Tupac album yet

ERIK

I have an idea for a series you guys could do. Write down every suggestion that you want to save for its own reaction video then every week or two put all these songs in a wheel spinning randomizer. Start the video by spinning the wheel and what ever song comes up you react to.

Anthony Mendoza

I had to pause at the reference to Biz Markie...he has an underrated song that I LOVE called "What Comes Around Goes Around". Superb piano at the end too

Tnulb

Please do Notorious Big - Niggas Bleed 😁

mahamudsuldan

Both songs were great, especially that Al

The FrontRoom

Sorry Anthony!!! Multiple things happened... too much to explain 😂

The FrontRoom

Been waiting all day for this!

Anthony Mendoza

Yoo no way my suggestion was picked!
