People's Choice #10: Absurd Songs

Comments

Please listen to something from Maxwell, you can start with something from Maxwell’s The Urban Hang Suite (Ascension or Sumthin’ Sumthin’) or from the Embrya album. He’s a neo-soul artist. Since you enjoyed Erykah Badu, I think you will like him because he’s a contemporary.

Joylynn06

Akua Naru - Poetry: How does it feel?

Alex Alt

Spence Lee - “spend my days” Cleo Sol - “things will get better”

Marco

Krayzie Bone- Memories It would be awesome if you guys reacted to this song. Beautiful song. Keep up the great work 💪

Sovieski Perez

Aaliyah - Don’t Worry

RRnb

TQ - Hard Life or Westside

RRnb

Renee by lost boyz

Gary Domingos

I suggest Papoose cure

Christopher Lugo

Bad Hombre

Thank you so much for choosing my suggestion of livin loose. Means a lot that Kai said I have good taste in music 😭

Bad Hombre

The Almighty RSO- You’ll Never Know You guys are going to love this Beat. *The intro Sample is from the Coen Brothers film “Millers Crossing”.

Sovieski Perez

Hodge- Head Nod (Music Video) This is an underrated track. Good summer jam *This song samples Tony! Toni! Toné! Song “Anniversary”. They are artist you covered on the people’s champ #9

Sovieski Perez

Tricky - Hell Is Around The Corner

ERIK

Dennis Brown- Should I

Sovieski Perez

Carlene Davis- Stealing Love Such a beautiful song in which many people can relate to

Sovieski Perez

Enjoyed this theme! Next theme suggestion: Covers. Songs that are equivalent or better than the original Song Reaction #11: Don’t know why-Norah Jones Alabama Shakes- Gimme All Your Love (I’ve seen a lot of suggestions for this song- I think dad would enjoy it. Plus since he likes southern hip hop he might enjoy a little southern rock:)

Precious

People’s choice#11 Dead Prez- Hell Yeah (Music Video) The cinematography in this video is masterful.

Sovieski Perez

I'm usually a rule follower, and already suggested my 2 BUT it dawned on me that you guys have never discussed the duo Camp Lo. I'm VERY curious what you think of their style. Camp Lo...either "Coolie High" or "Luchini"

Tnulb

Suggestion for theme week: Favorite songs from a movie soundtrack.

Nicole

Yes! My brother & I love this song. It always amuses us when we run into someone else that knows about it.

Nicole

The only Tracy Chapman I’ve ever heard is Fast Car. I remember the first time I heard it, back I think in ‘86. Definitely need to hear more. - dad

Nice, Happy birthday!

some new jack swing is a must

djhyjak

glad you fellas enjoyed Fantastic negrito, (if possible the videos are a must) Living Color - Cult of Personality (late 80's Hard Rock) Jaz-O - Hawaiian Sophie (late 80's Hip Hop)

djhyjak

There were two genres that became popular beginning in the mid to late 80s 1) Latin Freestyle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freestyle_music) Shannon - "Let the Music Play" or Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - "I Wonder if I Take You Home" 2) New Jack Swing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_jack_swing) Keith Sweat - "I Want Her" or Bobby Brown "Don't Be Cruel"

ProRenae

-Jacob Banks "Bang" ALSO...I highly recommend this album, criminally underrated. Tracy Chapman's album "Let it Rain" is so cerebral and raw. Even if it's not reviewed, it's worth a listen. I'll recommend: Tracy Chapman "You're the One" This was tough though because EVERY song on the album is incredible (that wasn't even actually my first suggestion, changed it twice, while typing this. I went with a more upbeat one that is a bit more easily digestible and less heavy) Love the theme idea by the way! Very fun to hear some unique stuff!

Tnulb

AMAZING song!

Tnulb

Hi guys, thanks so much for getting to my suggestion! It's actually my birthday today so it felt very serendipitous that the reaction should be today, thank you! I would say it's definitely more punk than funk. Nonetheless, I'm glad you were able to appreciate how eclectic the song is and how special it is that these albums are released and not lost over the years. As a British viewer, I would love to see some UK rap be covered on the channel. My suggestion is The Streets - Fit but you know it or Don't mug yourself. Great story telling and super British, especially for a Midlands girl haha. Have a great weekend!

Maya

80’s rap/hip hop theme would be nice for the next themed peoples choice

Anthony Mendoza

I love this channel ❤️ Most of the songs you play on people choice i never hurd as well and i have been able to find new music for my playlist. The duffler is definitely a new one.

Veronica Estrell

Great video! For peoples choice #11 I want to recommend (Because I’m me by the Avalanches) since Kai brought them up this video. I highly recommend the video cause I think dad will like the message it also includes a rapper from Camp Lo which is a rap duo from the 90’s that has a similar rap style to Jay Z. I would recommend listening to them in the future too

Anthony Mendoza

E-40- Rappers Ball Pall Wall- Sideways

Richard and Raya

Creator is used for fashion shows which I love about it. It is very electronic, bizzaro & chaotic. This is like punk rap and an art piece to me. Appreciate you reacting to my suggestion, it's OK Dad if you didn't feel it.... 🤷🏾‍♀️

Lady LaReux

If you do another odd song People's Choice can you add Magic Dance by David Bowie? It's from the movie Labyrinth.

Shaquea White

I love the idea of a themed People's Choice. Good to hear you're doing it again. My pick for #11 is "The Cool Thing To Do" by Soul Position

Ruben Reyes

I'm just here for Santigold! 🔥🔥

Hodge House

Ahh first K-Rino and now whisper- serpentwithfeet!!! You guys are spoiling me with my picks!! Excited to get to your reactions on it.

Izzy

Hip hop: Denzel Curry- Walkin R&B: Eric Roberson-Start all over again

Sheivon Jackson

Monalisa - lil wayne and Kendrick, one of the best storytelling songs pls

Michael kebede

Those white guys in Afroman's video are from a movie called "Clerks".

ProRenae

Crucial Conflict - Hay

Jiminy

Suggestion for next week: The Bitter Swing by Amber Oak. A very melancholic indie/folk-rock song about breaking up etc etc

Theo Holmgren

Fantastic negrito is a great recommendation.
