Thanks for your patience everyone!

Might be as simple as that! I think we overthought it XD - Kai

ATLiens is by far the best OutKast album according to me, followed by theier debut and of course The love below.

Theo Holmgren

I CAN'T WAIT TILL YOU GUYS REACT TO THE 2 CLASSICS IN THE BACKGROUND: GZA- "LIQUID SWORDS" & OUTKAST- "ATLIENS". THE PRODUCTION ALONE WILL DEFINITELY TAKE YOUR DAD ON A JOURNEY AROUND THE UNIVERSE!๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ

KAZBAAH

The (electric?) guitar throughout and specifically at the end of the song "The Score" is a sample from the song Dove by Cymande (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcL8SvyKtE4). So good!

100%.

I love how much your dad (and you) loves music; he made me teary-eyed. It's so unfortunate that this awesome trio didn't last longer.

Brenda T.

I always thought that "dance around the border like I'm Cassius Clay" just meant that Pras dances around the border the way Ali would dance around the ring when boxing, but I could be wrong!

Brenda T.

Yes! the movie feel!, it must have been deliberate if we both feel that way. We can't be the only ones. ๐Ÿ˜„ also I didn't like 'The Carnival' as a whole, it always felt like a forced album to me, like he did it just because he was famous and he had to do it. There are a few songs that I love like guantanamera, gun powder, sang fezi (the French one) oh and gone till November of course. But I just feel it lacks the genius that The Score has. The Carnival felt like an imposter album, as if someone went into wycleffs closet of old crap and made an album on his behalf but without permission. The Score and his singles list is a much better way to gauge his genius.

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

This makes me want to get a Wyclef "The Carnival" review. It always felt a little like it had a Score feel to it to me. Like, a good follow up to this album (even though they were not together...Lauryn and I believe Pras were also on that album as well) ALSO, that reminds me, this album as a concept (The Score) is great too. They made the album like the "The Score" to a movie, hence the theatrical skits and the way the songs blend onto the "scenes" of the "movie". At least that's how I've always interpreted it.

Haha you found the sample! Youre a better person than me haha well done ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜„

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

๐Ÿ‘ Bravo! Fun, funny, (magestic sweeps hahaa! ) emotional, logically analytical. As usual, just brilliant.! Deffo going to watch again !

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

Couple more things, Wycleff is a very accomplished guitar player, the video for cowboys is hillarious! And also on the documentary album the score bootleg versions, the fugees actually go to meet Bobs son Steven Marley and they do a version of no woman no cry together and its superior to the version on the original album track list. Check it out, its in the youtube playlist I posted previously.

Ok, I had to pause for a bit for a fun fact...this drove me nuts for years. So, "The Score" title track was always one of my favorite songs on the album, which it isn't everyone's BUT it is mine. LAURYN KILLS IT for one (which is an understatement...this is such an icredible verse all around. Like a class could be taught on this verse alone, it is so brilliant...I digress)but also I love how they switch up the sound like Kai references. Well, I'm a music nerd and before it was on Who Sampled, I had to figure out where those ominous strings were from because they sounded so familiar. So...long ago, I discovered it, after lots of digging through my brain and the internet. Here it is!!: https://youtu.be/EvqrAwrAs1A (Check the strings on "Figure Eight" from School Hous Rocks) Just the production ear and the brilliant creativity it takes to isolate that at that moment as Lauryn comes it with such an ill verse is so perfect. Ok...I'm going back in, just had to say that. AMAZING REVIEW thus far!

She is. 100%

DAD, YOU GET IT!

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

I'm only on the first song, I'd say it is bass too! But also just have to say about Lauryn, she is THE BEST female rapper of ALL TIME! And I think has one of the classiest vocal tones too!

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

Yes!!! SO EXCITED. ooooh a bit of Sting to start! ๐Ÿ˜„

Ayeisha Perry-Smith

BEAUTIFUL TSHIRT, bth! ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท
