Speedrun Explained 50: Update 4 (+ other things)

Hi all! Couple quick things to hit ya with today.

First is an update on the Hollow Knight Any% (No Major Glitches) video. I've just finished up the first pass draft for the video, and I'm currently waiting on a list of footage requests for the runners to include in explanation sections. I'll probably have the footage by the end of this week/early next week (the list ended up being SUPER long). The first draft of the video (sans ad read) is sitting at right around 61-62 minutes long, so it's a big one! There was a ton to explain in the run but super happy with how it's coming along so far. I expect that you all should be able to watch it in the next two weeks or so. Here's the thumbnail for it though!

Couple other quick things. First is that the winner of the recent poll for a future SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED is an Any% run of Alien: Isolation! I'm honestly super excited for this, it's been on my list of videos to make for a few years now, and feels in the same vein of games that I covered when I first started making SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED videos. That video won't be coming out for quite some time though, as the Control video and Super Mario Odyssey videos are both slotted in front of it, and both of those are larger projects. Speaking of Control, I've spoken with the runner and learned the new stuff added to the route, so as soon as the Hollow Knight video warps production, I'll be diving straight into working on Control. I've also gotten in contact and secured a runner for the SMO video, and they're beginning to work on recording a run for the video, so we're all set on that front too! Currently the schedule for upcoming videos probably looks something like this:

Hollow Knight - Late March (Early April for public release)

Control - May

Super Mario Odyssey - Likely July

Alien: Isolation - Likely late August

The last bit of news is that I'm actually going to be recording the first SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED review (not sure what I'll be calling it) today (and maybe a little bit tomorrow). It's going to be a very laid back thing of just me sitting at my desk taking notes and watching what I consider to be the first SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED that I made. This will be available for everyone to view here on Patreon, and I'll likely be posting it to my 2matoanus channel as an advertisement for the series here on Patreon. They'll remain exclusive to Patreon for probably around a year, and then be released publicly on 2matoanus a year after they're available on here. I'm excited to see how it turns out and be able to revisit old videos and ideas. I think that long-term it'll benefit the channel as I'll be able to learn a ton from what I've done in the past.

That's about all for now though! Hope you're all keeping safe and healthy.
