The ninth track of TtM, which functions as its credits song.
Fun fact was that this was originally a Warlock Dowling (Good Omens) song - in fact, it was a sequel to Hey Mama. It was supposed to be about Warlock's thoughts, about having moved on from his wanting to be accepted by his parents, and finding freedom, but also finding that the world isn't all roses and good times even after he's out of his parents' house. There's still a lot of things to grapple with, and it's a part of life, but it is easier when he knows he's got people that actually love and support him, because in this song, he finds Aziraphale and Crowley and they help him find his footing in the world now that he's independent, and he's joined the GO gang in their shenanigans.
I thought it was too vague and didn't include it in Ineffable Tunes 2019. I thought it was vague enough to be a credits song to TtM, though, and I will be including this in the Ineffable Tunes album that's in the works.
LYRICS
There is a space between the evening and the sunset
That makes me want to cry
I don't know why
But it fills me up until I just can't breathe
Clouds suffocating me
Even if I still feel empty
I just want the world to stop a bit
Just to halt in its footsteps
From eternity to eternity
To eternally changing and chasing
Just breaking and taking
I feel its every heave in my bones
I can pretend it doesn't terrify me
Like everything I see is wondrous
Is marvelous
Like enormity doesn't make me feel
So small
In the midst of it all
Like I'm not stuck in freefall
But when you take my hand
Then I can see that I'm
Safe here
There's just a breath between nostalgia and my sadness
That makes me feel alive
Though I avoid it sometimes
It takes away everything close to me
It taints my memories
To think that I once was happy
I know that the world lies just beyond
The folds of your jacket
From insanity to insanity
To incessantly turning and burning
So lost with its yearning
For a moment, I know how it feels
I can pretend it doesn't terrify me
Like everything I see is wondrous
Is marvelous
Like enormity doesn't make me feel
So small
In the midst of it all
Like I'm not stuck in freefall
But when you take my hand
Then I can see that I'm
Safe here
Though our world's built in fear
This much I know to be clear
That when I see you smile
Then I can see that I'm
Safe here
I can pretend it doesn't terrify me
That one day you'll forget that I exist
That it's you I'll miss
Like the way life goes doesn't make me feel
So small
In the midst of it all
Like I'm not stuck in free fall
But then you take my hand
And I can see that I'm
Safe here
Though our world's built in fear
This much I know to be clear
That when I see you smile
Then I can see that I'm
Safe here
