The mighty wyrm Kyugonsei lay dying, her tyranny ended following a bloody rebellion by her enslaved peoples. With her final words she taunted her killers’ insignificance and laughed a final curse that her death would not free them and she would never allow them peace.
The dragon bled out, its blood pooled into a pond. The pond was ‘blessed’ and healed the wounds, and cured the ills of all who bathed in it. The leaders of the victors, freed from the beast’s rule, all claimed the pond as their own and took up arms against their former allies for control of the Dragon Pond. A stockade was raised, then a fort. Over the centuries far more wounds and miseries were inflicted over ownership of the pond than were ever healed by it.
