How the Music Box Works 2: Electric Boogaloo

AYEEEEE WHAT'S UP

I'm so happy with the response that Lullaby has been getting - thank you so much to everyone who has been reading and supporting this story! And thank you especially for you patrons who have been helping me out!

Lullaby is actually incredibly hard (but incredibly fun) to write because I have to take into account everyone's personalities, so if I go a little off-track, I apologize. (Truth: the reason why the Palmers and Mrs. H and Mr. G and everyone else is there is to act as mediators, because MCU and Homestuck are two very disparate things, and I have to mix them slowly, and we're only just starting with Steve Rogers.)

One gentle reminder though: Lullaby started out as FUN WITHOUT PLOT, meaning I didn't really plan for it go anywhere. I still don't plan for it to go anywhere. If I have my way, and it goes nowhere, everyone's just going to form friendships and heal and be happy and drive off into the sunset.

If I put in plot, what happens is more death and suffering and this is not what this fic is supposed to be. But.

It's up in the air right now. We'll see what Fate has to say about this story.

A few more tidbits I want to point out that I forgot to point out in my last post:

CLASSPECTS FOR THE LULLABY AVENGER'VERSE CHARACTERS:
I've assigned Cecil as Seer of Void and Kevin as Knight of Light, explained in the previous Music Box post.

Mr. G is Heir of Blood - Heir ('I Become'; A person who inherits); Blood (Bonds, Unity, Relationships, Emotions, Feelings, Pacts, Responsibility, Duty, Loyalty, Attachment, Connection, Groundedness).

Heirs are people who protect and are protected by their aspect. The alignment of Heir on the passive-active scale is canonly unknown, so we can assume that passivity or activity is up to the player. Since Mr. G is based on Will Graham, he is mainly a passive class Heir who uses his ability with empathy to protect other people, however, should there be a game, his quest will be to learn to be active and actually use his ability to its full extent, making him control it and not letting it control him and tip over his sanity.

Obviously, the focus of G's classpect is on Becoming and Emotion, since Will can literally assimilate other people's thinking.

Mrs. Harrison is officially Witch of Hope - Witch ('I manipulate'; extremely active manipulators; redefine their aspect closer to the end-game); Hope (Belief, Possibility, Options, Wish, Realness, Imagination, Ideas, Conception, Trust, Faith, Ideals, Positive Emotions - minorly linked to theology [note: Eridan Ampora's land had angels]).

Witches are known active classes who manipulate their aspect on massive scales. So we have someone who cannot only influence belief, but be able to use that belief for a goal. Mrs. Harrison - full name Elizabeth Fell Harrison - is based on Aziraphale, Angel of the Eastern Gate, who was stationed to Earth to be a force of good, someone who actively influences belief to turn it towards righteousness. Mrs. Harrison is supposed to be the positive force and the anchor of the Safehouse, because let's face it, they're all screwed up, and it is her job to influence their way of thinking so that they don't all fall into despair.

(Loki is self-loathing. Dave is paranoid. John is depressed. Rose has demons under her skin. Jade does not want to turn out like Jadesprite, always crying from hopelessness and frustration. The Palmers are great, but we all know who they're based on. Will is neurotic.)

The Hope aspect is also a very powerful reality warper, which is a huge advantage for the players of Lullaby'verse, since their world has been dropped magical children through a glitch.

Okay you're going to fight me regarding the next part, but for all intents and purposes of this fic, these are their classpects.

Loki has two possible classes: Lord and Mage.

Lord is for if he ever does a solo session. Mage is for a regular session.

Aspect: Space

Lord ('I rule'; someone who takes command). Mage ('I create'; manipulates their aspect through their vast knowledge and understanding of it).

The reason why there are two classes for him is because Loki has extreme mastery over his craft, which is magic. He can rule and manipulate through vast knowledge and understanding. Lords are defined by their ability to take control of their aspect. Mages are defined by their thorough understanding of their aspect and ability to use this understanding in creative and innovative ways to overcome obstacles. Both of which are things Loki easily does, because he's our genius little overachieving boy who got himself two classes.

There's a tiny theory running around regarding dual classes though - a major class and a minor class, the same for aspects.

Honestly, it's up in the air as to what class he is. If he chooses to go solo (therefore choosing not to trust his newfound friends and once again believe that he stands alone and will always be alone), he will be a Lord. If he chooses to believe in his friends' love for him, he will be a Mage. Both classes are active.

Space (Physicality, Creation, Transformation, Matter, Beginnings, Rebirth, Concreteness, Mass, Energy, Physics, Fabric of Space).

Most people forget that before everything went down, Loki was a very good hand at creating things - creating mischief, chaos, spells, words. He wasn't a force of destruction, he was a force of creation, even if the result of that creation often was destruction. Some people would argue Mind for Loki because he was so smart, but he mostly put that intelligence into creating things.

He's also known in Norse myth as the Skywalker, so we've already got the teleportation thing down. He is also supposedly the one to bring Ragnarok, which will destroy the universe and allow it to start anew, kind of like Norse myth's version of SBURB (I really wouldn't be surprised if Hussie based it off that).

Also, if I'm going to trust anyone with breeding the Genesis Frog, it's Loki. It's definitely Loki. I would not trust anyone else. Maybe the Frog will have a few extra limbs because we forget that Loki actually can do jobs seriously and only remember Avengers! or Dark World! Loki or Fanfic! Loki, but if we rewatch Thor (deleted scenes included), Loki can put mischief aside to do a job, provided prejudiced people don't try to turn on him this time.

Lord of Space - Loki would be literally able to command space and it would get on its knees and obey. Which, taking into account lore and the fact that he's the greatest sorcerer in all the nine realms, I wouldn't be surprised.

Mage of Space - A Space Nerd, which is what he actually is. Due to understanding and knowledge of space, it would be safe to say he'd know the building blocks of the physical universe by hand and be able to manipulate it. Listen to me, okay - he can make planets if he wanted to. That's what I'm saying. That's how powerful this nerd can be.

Also Mages are known to be self-loathing. Trust me, I'm a Mage.

Steve Rogers is Knight of Breath.

He's already given the go-signal for being a possible ally in the Safehouse, so he gets a classpect.

Knight (I Fight/I Protect; one who equips their aspect to protect their aspect and others; exploits their aspect as a weapon); Breath (Freedom, Escape, Quest, Detachment, Independence, Change, Mobility).

Knights of Breath are literally freedom fighters.

Knights are protectors and fighters, who will use their aspects are weapons, often to protect it as well - most Knights' sessions lack their aspect, which is why they have to protect it. Breath is the representation of freedom, in that no one can actually cage wind, which is what Steve Rogers stands for. Another theme of Breath is detachment (John has some major grief issues), and Steve is a little misplaced in time, so he is quite literally detached from his proper timeline.

Breath players are also known to be kind and honest.

Breath also has themes of constant change and mobility, which is something Steve has to go through. He has to constantly go with the flow of the new world.

He also utilizes his own freedom as an Avenger(you know, free to move around from place to place and punch villians in the face, and dude, he's Captain America) in order to preserve freedom and protect other people's freedom. Also, someone once described a Knight of Breath as this:

Knights are known for putting on facades. Steve's constant facade to the people of New York is that He's Totally Fine(tm) when he's actually horribly struggling with dealing with the time-displacement and the fact that everyone he knew is either dead or dying.

Bucky's getting a class too, but I'm still typing him. If only this was like, a degree or something. I'd have my diploma by now. I love classpect typing so much.

Also hopefully, we can get either Roxy or Sollux in the house to bring back pesterchum. I hate not being able to work with pesterchum.

Comments

I always enjoy reading the thought behind the work, and for fun or not, I've enjoyed the end results of everything so far! And seriously. -_- Character designing is a fun thing to do in general (so makes sense that classpect(ing) would be too), but it only really viable in games or animation.
