March '24 Update

This month's update is somewhat jam-packed, so I will get right to the meat and potatoes!

Prismatic Wasteland

Many of you are subscribed to follow along with the rules updates for this system, and it has been on the backburner for the last few months as I focus on my more immediate projects. However, a recent development that is likely to kick it into gear (by kicking me to tinker more with its rules, or at least to playtest the rules I do have outlined in v0.4) is that I am about to start up a home game of Barkeep on the Borderlands (and its environs) but using pseudo-Prismatic Wasteland as the system. Are people interested in play reports for this? Unsure.

Into the Oddish & Vile Plume Mountain

Making some good progress on this. If only I had finished it in time for Palworld, I could have had a better chance of flying under the radar of the Poke Mon corporation. I will share the current draft of the rules (mostly character creation so far) with the Aspiring Tycoons (tomorrow, to not overwhelm them with email updates today).

Candy Country

This one continues to cook. The cover is ALMOST done--the image for this post is a WIP (for instance, 2/3 of the mole radishes are just sketched out in outline), but I think it is coming along nicely. My aforementioned game in Barkeep on the Borderlands may veer into a Candy County playtest if the players dare to venture far southeast of the Keep.

New Project

This is still shrouded in mystery, but I am working on becoming a real publisher by publishing something someone else wrote! It will be a starter adventurer and I am doing the producing and editing on it. It is still in the early stages, but stay tuned.

More Patron Benefits & Discord Expansion

This month, two big changes are coming to this Patreon: 

(1) every tier gets an upgrade. So the Sewer Scrubbers are going to start getting the early drafts of blog posts, not just the Beleaguered Bouncers. The Beleaguered Bouncers are going to start getting to see WIPs of Prismatic Wasteland and my other projects, not just the Aspiring Tycoons. And the Aspiring Tycoons themselves will each get to give me a blogpost prompt and I will write a blogpost about it (although they need to be a Tycoon for at least 6 months, but then get to dictate me to write a post once per year as long as they stay at that tier).

(2) we are going to expand the discord server! It will have a open-to-the-public section for general conversation and tomfoolery, and a patrons-only version for all the various WIP stuff and to talk about specific projects. I am also going to bring in a few of my fellow creators, which I think will be fun. I think this will make the place a bit more vibrant but also would make it easier to start running games in there regularly. If you have any concerns or suggestions about this, feel free to let me know!
