A Sneak Peek at a New Follower Project!
Added 2021-07-22 01:43:00 +0000 UTCFam. This is kinda a sneak preview, but I also need your thoughts. :D
I've started designing my custom voiced follower and I have some draft sculpts. In short, she's supposed to be a very human-like automaton created by an artificer (someone with Vivec-tier knowledge). So for her appearance (other than being attractive) she's supposed to look human- other than some wedges and lines between joints. Think the YorHa from Nier Automata.
Here's a folder with some screenshots that show how she looks, in addition to some alternate hairstyles/body textures: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnL8aTXycLICgph_1BknRcEqm9Z2lw?e=3txh1h
So if ya guys could take a peek and lemme know how you think she looks, and which body textures/hairstyles you prefer- I'd appreciate it!
As for the voice, someone's already expressed their interest and their voice is pretty good already. Post SDA 3.0, I'd of course still like Kerstyn to voice Serana and wouldn't like to shoulder her with more VA work. And yes, I do have more character details (personality, backstory), but let's deal with the appearance stuff for now! :)

Hey folks! Here's a quick update on the whole thing. In regards to the automaton character, I think I'll go with another concept entirely. Maybe take some bits and elements out of it (so all my brainstorming wasn't a waste lol) but I'm definitely removing the core concept of an automaton/homunculus, reanimated corpse. While those concepts definitely have a lot of potential, they could go wrong in a lot of ways too. What I have learned from film school is to write stories from your own experience whenever possible, as those tend to be more organic and easier to get right generally speaking. Oftentimes when people try to do complex stories, unless they're very talented at writing, they almost always tend to fall flat. The character will still probably be a female, as I've already spent a lot of time on a sculpt and already have an interested VA- but the new concept will be definitely more grounded and less overly ambitious.

2021-07-30 05:21:22 +0000 UTCI was referring to the screenshots in the "Alternate Textures" folder. 1699 was one I had in mind. 1700-1701, - this is what I meant (above) about the lines. It's a great idea to have them (she's a robot) but I feel they should kind of fit the mechanics of a robot - like where would you start and stop a panel, and what would the panel do? As they stand in 1700-1701 they remind me of CBBE wrist gaps. However, this is your project so please feel free to design at will and ignore my ramblings! :)

2021-07-22 11:22:09 +0000 UTCThanks for your feedback! For her body textures, what screenshots were you commenting at? I realized that my initial run at the body textures didn't look so good (as shown in 1698 and 1699) so I decided to improve it (as shown in 1700).

2021-07-22 11:21:22 +0000 UTCFrom a quick look, she has excellent looks. Hair-styles are not my thing so I am sure you will choose something that matches her face. As for the artificer lines from her creation I think you need to be careful here. The screenshots looked more like classic Bugthesda wrist and neck gaps! The 'construction' panels and seams need to make sense in terms of jointing, access to innards, and functionality. Good luck with the project!
