Girl Genius Comic for Friday, July 21, 2023

Well, I was most of the way through tonight's Twitch stream when I realized this was going to be a bit late. Fortunately Cheyenne turned in the colors while I was streaming. Anyway, here it is!

I'll be streaming again through Sunday night. Seattle time: Friday 5:00PM, Saturday 6:00PM, Sunday 7:00PM. I'll attach the schedule.

Sorry it's so late, thank you!

You know, once we learned that Hector was from the Black Rose School of Dramatic Acquisitions, I had assumed that the "I'm daft/ a ghost" thing was just him acting. Now... I'm just confused.

That's a very cool insight and I believe in this explanation!

Okay totally random side note, but I've been thinking a lot about fire ecology recently because of the news. Normally in a charred forest and ash banks like this, I would expect greenery to be popping up to take advantage of the newly available fertilizer and exposed space. Now I realize that the Foglios almost certainly didn't think that deeply about this, which is of course totally fine, but I realized a very valid explanation could have been that Hydrargyros' flame with the iram solis was so hot that it not only burned everything, it sterilized the soil several feet down, killing any roots, fungi, and banked seeds. It would effectively make it the same as mine spoils, which can take decades for plants to really establish themselves on because the soil is so sterile. Right, I'm done.

Okay, I did not expect the lake Humongolous dug for fun to come back. This is my favorite.

I know I've complained about this story more than once, but overall I am greatly enjoying it. And one of my favorite things about it are Hector's wonderfully goofy expressions, which are well represented on this page.

Cheyenne continues to do a bang-up job! Compare the pencil sketch to the colored version of the page and you will see that all of the reflections in the water were either vastly enhanced or completely added by him.

i'm betting that's not the Iram Solis and that Franz knew that

Brad Kirkwood

Plot twist where the Iram Solis doesn't work if you get it wet. XD

Lake Humongulus. I love it. He put up a sign and everything! Really pretty first panel, by the way, kudos to all involved. I didn't know about the busy streaming schedule (and couldn't have made it to tonight's anyway, I was at work) but I'll show for the next one to say hi! Hope everything went well tonight!
