Girl Genius Comic for Monday, January 16, 2023

Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes! I had a nice time, and my Mom made the kind of cake we all like, with seven minute frosting that gets a little sugar-crunchy on the outside.

Apparently the possibility exists that there are, or at least used to be, dwarves in the Girl Genius world, a thought which strikes me as hilarious. But of course there would be, because I adore the dwarves of fantasy (especially the ones that live in Ankh-Morpork) and so they must be somewhere in everything I do. Not sure yet if they're the above mentioned "Mountain Kings" though. We might think of something we like better at the last minute. We often do.

Of course, some bio-oriented spark might have made dwarves to secure a mineral supply or something.

Captain Button

You assume that Ibsen or possibly Gynt is not a Spark.

Mary Catelli

I just assumed it was another clan of Sparks, much like the Heterodynes, but possibly less (in)famous. Of course, that doesn't preclude them being dwarves.

Fear the networking.

With dwarves involved? Of course: 🎝 Mine, mine, mine...🎝 (and we don't mean the mine you get it from or the method of getting it)

THIS. This is exactly what would happen. I love it.

Right, he always refers to himself in the third person. There are two instances of that on this very page! EDIT: Oh, I see, you mean he means all of them know Hector, not just he. I'm not sure I've ever heard him refer to a group including himself, using whatever language!

Brian Harvey

Ibsen: Okay, so Peer Gynt gets drunk and imagines that there's these trolls that live in fantastic underground palaces. Now these don't exist, mind you, but— Sparks: Hold my beer Ibsen: Wait what, that's not the point Sparks: Okay I've narrowed it down to three mountains to work on . . . Ibsen: No see the point is that the next day— Sparks: . . . so with 400 miners and 30 sculptors working in tandem . . .

Michael Bacon

He's talking about Hector so they all know him. Or are you pointing out that Humongulus has never said "we" before even when it was appropriate? I've never noticed that, if he has.

I LOVE that last line. :D

Sebastian

Shouldn't that be "Because Humongulus knows one of them" in the last panel?

Brian Harvey

I feel like in this world there are definitely both people who would role-play as fantasy dwarves to the point of building themselves their own mountain fortress, and Sparks who would make sure that, within a few generations, Dwarves of the appropriate constitution would exist.

'Cue the Grieg'

I think humongulous gets smarter with each page

Alan

Will there be singing about gold?
