A Natural Approach part 15

Comments

Hi Kasmin, thanks for the comment. I’m able to gauge light or dark based on a predetermined value scale from my pigments. Example, Ivory Black = 0 and Titanium White = 10 everything else is 7.678 or 1.999 etc. etc. if I remember it being a 1 or 2 the scale I trust it was correct and not blatantly wrong. If I want to add more light to an area then that is different but it would be judged by nature not my painting if that makes sense. And dry vs. wet are if I understand you right is a paint wet into wet vs scumble or glaze mentality

Michael Klein

Hi Michael, I noticed that you don’t oil out every time you start a new session. I know that leaving layers of oil without color can be detrimental to the painting, but how are you able to gauge what’s too light and too dark? I was wondering what has been your experience, good or bad, and some tips on treating small areas with multiple layers in respect to dry color vs wet color. P.S. I’m enjoying every session of this painting. It’s nice to see how obstacles pushed through. It’s the aspect of painting I need to see. Thanks again.
