The Heretic, p. 2
In this exploration, we turn from the pre-existing religions of Newhome to the new ideas and traditions which emerged as a result of the Starfall. Powerful beings from another world... the Draak-Kin... brought many things to their new planet.
The philosophical gap created by the fall of large-scale Original worship and ancient dogmas was effectively filled by Darktooth, who visited every major known settlement and species to advise them on how to rebuild their spiritual identities. Dark...
2025-07-02 02:59:24 +0000 UTC View PostReligion and philosophy provide a canvas of meaning upon which a civilization may be painted, influencing the thoughts of billions on a daily basis, and these things play at least as powerful a role on Newhome as they do on Earth.
The arrival of the Kin sparked a spiritual renaissance presided over by the First Starfallen, also known as Blackfang or the Dark-Toothed One, who would eventually take on the mantle of HIEROPHANT. In less than a century by Earth reckoning, the powerful incumb...

In the first of our Hierophant species reveals, we will be taking an exclusive deep dive into the Milli'li, pleasure-seeking denizens of the Great Azure Forest. I felt as though the best way to do this would be to share a few recently-published Carnivalian georecs on the subject. I am including them with this post; please download and peruse them at your leisure. The recently-concluded alliance between the Carnivalian Empire and the Milli'li has seen a great amount of new material published a...
2025-01-23 17:46:39 +0000 UTC View PostGreetings to all of our beloved Patrons and Dreamers!
We hope you have enjoyed the recent deeper dives into the lives of the Elders at the time of Golden Treasure: The Great Green. Because it was such a pivotal time in the species' history, they represented a precious view into the greatest of the Kin, and perhaps into even the nature of Greatness as the Kin understand it. Allmother, Darktooth, Many-Times-Burned, Fathom, Jade Cloud, and Bladetail-of-the-Many-Minds were exce...
We have resolved to prepare a series of primers containing art and information on the species of your choice, in the order of popularity as defined by this poll. Several wondrous species are anxiously waiting behind the curtain to meet their beloved Patrons.
If desired, please refer to the post on the Gentas of Newhome and the introduction to the world which was posted roughly a ye...

Greetings, beloved Dreamers!
Today, we finish our series on the Seven Elders of the Kin. Darktooth the Wise, Many-Times-Burned, and Allmother were given a good deal of time and attention in Golden Treasure: The Great Green, but four other Elders played less central roles. Aside from the Ruiner (who will never be portrayed for several very important reasons), we have recently published special art and a biography on all of those Elders recently. Jade Cloud and Fathom's articles and pain...
I have always dreamed of having my own game on Steam achieve the highest level of accolade: Overwhelmingly Positive, a review index reached by less than one percent of Steam games. After five long years, Golden Treasure: The Great Green has finally been given that honor.
To every member of the community who posted a Steam review for the game... thank you. I would embrace each one of you now, if I could. You made this happen, and helped fulfill a dream. (And if you haven't posted a revie...

Today we continue our series on the Elders of the Draak-Kin Tribe at the time of Golden Treasure: The Great Green. Across the eons, there have, of course, been thousands of Elders spread out over millions of years, though rarely more than seven at any one time, six in practice, since the Ruiner must always be counted so long as She lives, and She cannot die by the design of any living thing, elemental force, or weight of Time. Today, we will recount, in very little detail, the life of one of...

One could be forgiven for wondering what we have been up to for the last month here at Dreaming Door Studios. It is unusual for us to keep our silence this long.
In truth, great matters have been transpiring, and we are waiting for something specific before we explain. In the meantime, please keep us in your thoughts as we attempt to build a new lair in the heart of the desert.
As a small token of apology, please accept this beautiful new rendering of one of Act One's most popular...

In this week's Patreon special, we present 云玉, known in foreign lands as Jade Cloud. One of the Seven Elders at the time of Golden Treasure: The Great Green, it was one of the mightiest and wisest of the Draak-Kin People in that age, and arguably any age. All Kin south of the Mongolian steppes and north of Australia looked to it for guidance, and it mentored many beings, including humans, influencing global culture beyond the dusk of the Draak-Kin.
In its early life, Jade Cloud show...

Greetings, dear Patrons!
Nearly one year has passed since the Dreaming Door Patreon was created, and it has been a very successful year. The Patreon has raised a little over $10,000 total in that time, which has enabled us to release official Spanish and Chinese translations of Golden Treasure, create art and script for Hierophant, and keep the Dream alive.
A thousand thanks to all of our Patrons of any and every tier for your generosity and dedication to...

Among those Kin who undertook the Exodus to Newhome, the Onyx Clan was the least represented of the extant Clans of the time. Few were surprised at this; the crusade to purge the No-Tails from the planet was called by an elder of their own Clan, and its purpose... the protection of the world they were created to defend... spoke powerfully to their souls. Even knowing that it was unlikely to succeed, very few of that proud clan of great warriors would turn their tails to their sacred Mother an...

Flexible in both Mind and Body, the Kin of the Garnet Clan have a knack for exploration, discovery, and the collection of rare treasures. Of all the Clans, they tend to be the most adaptable, their slender bodies flowing snake-like through dense foliage, water bodies, and underground tunnels with equal ease. Comfortable in darkness, their thermal vision and sense of smell are exceptional.
When the first of this new Clan awakened into its telltale adolescent form, there was some controv...
Once the new six-limbed hatchling morphology had been established as normal, interest in attending the births of new Kin waned. Darktooth the Wise, however, had perceived a spiritual difference in one of the hatchlings, and was waiting to greet it when it emerged from its first Great Sleep as the founder of a glorious new clan.
Malachite Kin, so named for the beautiful swirling bands of green color displayed by their shorter feathers, would prove to have, on average, the widest wingspan...

In stark contrast to the traditions of the Draak while on Earth, the emergence of the first Kin on Newhome from its speckled Chamber was attended by not only its parent but several others, eager to witness the continuation of their People. Though some were concerned at the obvious morphological differences exhibited by the hatchling (upper left), Darktooth the Wise, who was present at the time, declared it an evolution rather than a deformity, a statement proven true as other hatchings took p...

A new Earth. New Suns.
The wiser members of the Exodus were not at all surprised when the first Draak-Kin to be conceived and born on Newhome did not directly resemble their parents. The energy of new stars and the Way of a new world gave rise to a new People.
The Earth dragons... "draco terrestrialis" or "draco originalis", as the species was called by some... now had new forms suited to their new home. The official designation given to this new species established by radical new...

2024-06-17 18:33:47 +0000 UTC View PostThis special poll, open to Draak-Kin level patrons only, offers a single chance at redemption for one of the species featured in Genta Wars - Patron's Choice which were not selected. Many of these species had their devoted fans, but which reigns supreme in the hearts of the mighty Kin?

After months of competition, you know them well.
Remember them each in turn...
These underground megabeings will be featured in the final script of Hierophant in at least a minor role, and possibly more. Henceforth, they will have a place in the canon of Newhome's sentient species. We're very excited, and already have plans regarding their place in the story and how they might bring new benefits and challenges to the rise of the Hierophant.
...
And then there were two.
This week's match-up, the last of its kind, is for the title of Patron's Choice. The winner will be officially incorporated into the world of Hierophant, and players will be able to meet them in the finished game.
Competition was quite fierce, and our second runner-up, the Rhusa, lost by only one single vote last week, clearing the way for a Fyrsa vs. Yhara showdown. Hope is not lost for the calculating bathers, as next week, the Draak-Kin Choice wi...
2024-06-03 20:37:43 +0000 UTC View PostWe began with ten, and now, three remain. This round puts all three up against each other in a lightning elimination round. The one with the least will not move forward, but both of the higher scorers will advance to the true final round. Exceptions may apply; if there is a clear runaway winner from this round, we may consider the matter settled, but only if all the votes for the other two combined are less than that of the winner.
Let's meet the three once again:
