New video is deep into production, I promise. Have some behind-the-scenes to tide you over in the meantime.

Making a 3D character look 2D is a very interesting task. Blender's Grease Pencil tools will automatically generate outlines around the character model, but I still have to manually move the face around to get it to look correct from weird angles. Top view is an (unfinished) look at our opening scene, and the bottom view has a camera attached directly to his face, which should give a better idea of how the 3D-to-2D process works.

While the Satisfactory video was wrapping up, we were already researching and drafting a script for what we wanted our next video to be. Unfortunately after 3 weeks of writing, I never really got it to a place where I was happy, and I decided to pivot to a new, slightly easier topic.

Then I had the opposite problem, where the entire script only took about a week to write (which is pretty quick for me), but it ended up being over 45 minutes long. I know a lot of you would love to see such a long video, but with all the bespoke animations and motion graphics, it would take several months for it to ever see the light of day. And if it didn't do well algorithmically, that's 3 months gone with very little to show for it, so we're not quite ready to take on that kind of risk.

But the good news is, with so much script on the chopping block, that means a lot of extra goodies for $6+ patrons. This upcoming video is an exploration of animation techniques, so I figured we should go all out with the animated segments on this one. New set, new lighting and compositing, and a slightly new format that should still feel pretty familiar.

You'll get a trickle of new behind-the-scenes content as we start wrapping things up. I expect it'll be out in the first half of August, pending sponsor negotiations.
