Little patient Hinata WIP

8 year old Hinata came all the long way from countryside to the ig city, just to have her special operation with the expert staff at our hospital. It's her very first surgery and of course a big adventure, but she a super brave girl and we'll take the best care of her.

Calming syrup with great effect. Now let's see if the magic bandaid did it's job too.

Planned format of narrative text:

"By now Hinata's eys have gotten really heavy and she felt like taking a nap. And while she's relaxing the nurse is busy giving Hinata a few more tubes that make sure she has everything she needs during the surgery. Like Water, air, or even medicine and she doesn't need take a toilet break either. They really thought of everything!

But Hinata is already not feeling any of that. She is sleeping reaallly tight. Oh right, there's also some wires with stickers so the doctor can see that Hinta is sleeping well."

The inspiration are videos showing and explaining the process of surgery to children. It is best understood if you see another child like yourself go through it and can emphasize.

There are many tubes and wires on your body for surgery, but it's usually not explained in detail to patients and sometimes little ones are looking to lern more so than the adults. If you're curious, ask your nurse or doctor.

Comments

They vary in the grade of detail but most of the time those are just super cool. I remember a children's body education book I had that only briefly mentioned surgery, but that was already very much peeking the interest of child me.

Thank you, I knew I had to make the tube at lest a little better somehow, also adjusted the size to fit her. And hardware store tube sounds very rough and dirty even if you wash it, you couldn't get a seal with right?

I had something similar, a kind of booklet explaining surgery to kids. Maybe it's still lying around at the bottom of some drawer at my parents' house lol

Appreciate the printing on her tube, looks less like something you'd find in a hardware store. In the old days they'd just cut a length of red rubber hose and shove it in.

Vokey
