September Discord Chat Session Recap!

Yesterday Pete & Lloyd hosted this months Discord Chat session over in the ERB Server. As usual here is a recap of what was discussed...

Peter kicked things off saying he had been chatting to Joey Greer this week who has previously appeared as background characters in various ERB videos. He also helped write the Goku vs Superman battle. Pete didn't explain what he discussed with him but perhaps something is afoot. 

He then moved on to discuss the upcoming battle "Jeff Bezos vs Mansa Musa". He confirmed that the filming will take place on weekend of October 2nd. We have had a host of delays in getting this shoot confirmed, so it's good to now have it sorted.

We initially needed to wait until the guest rapper Scru Face Jean received his Covid vaccinations and then had a member of the ERB crew actually catch Covid themselves. So its been a problematic time. So the earliest we could get a date for filming sorted was early October.

But the delay has meant we've been able to spend extra time working on the audio mix and it is sounding great. More tweaks will be made this month but its close to being finished. We've also had time to develop the backgrounds for both characters which is usually something we would do after shooting the video. We hope to have the final video ready for upload sometime in November. 

Pete shared a draft of one he has been working on for Mansa Musa...

The image still needs a lot of work, but it is a realistic looking version of the Mosque that Mansa Musa built in Timbuktu. In the finished video the sky will move and sand will blow across the ground. Peter also shared a wire frame image of a background that's currently in development for Jeff Bezos...

This is a wireframe image of a warehouse that we are planning to use. It'll feature moving shelves and robots to represent an automated warehouse. Peter said at the moment they plan to have Bezos introduce himself by flying in aided by drones. Bezos will have a few outfit changes for the video including the "Space Cowboy" look...

Peter then moved on to explain that we are moving ahead with developing "John Rambo vs John Wick vs John McClane". It's a match-up idea we floated in last month's Discord chat. The research is going well and we have already secured a beat for the battle too. Pete and Lloyd have sat down with Zach Sherwin and started the writing process.

Peter explained the worst part of the research so far was watching the last Die Hard film. He said the newest die hard film has to be seen to be believed in terms of how bad it is. [I have to agree. I think I like Die Hard 1, 3, 2, 4, 5 in that order. First three are all solid]

We are also currently developing the audio track for the battle and are aiming for each of the three characters will have a different instrument motif in their verses, based around the same rhythm bed. All being well the final video should be ready before December.

We discussed ideas for the backgrounds of each of the three characters. Peter feels Wick needs the neon style imagery, Rambo more jungle based whilst McClane could perhaps be in Nakatomi Tower (with a specific shot in the air vent). But still not sure on those.

Lloyd then briefly discussed King Kong vs Godzilla. We have spoken to a number of potential animators. We now have one enlisted to work on it, once we finish the song. We already have a beat sorted, but the writing is not complete. 

Obviously the animation will take many months. So, rather than get bogged down on it, we are doubling down on Bezos vs Musa and Rambo vs Wick for 2021. So, that animated battle will be pushed for release in 2022 instead.

Some patrons suggested we should line up the Kong vs Godzilla battle to time it's release for the G-Fest Con next year. So, we are gonna look into whether that's a good idea or not. [G-Fest is a Godzilla based con happening in Chicago in July 2022]
