Nine years ago today ERB began our journey with Episode 1 - John Lennon vs Bill O'Reilly. Many of you have been with us since then. Many of you found us much more recently. We can't thank you all enough for being a huge part of our past, present ... and future!
We have three more battles coming out before the end of the year. And many more to come in 2020! :) We will continue to strive to make the best videos we can, for the best fan base we could possibly ask for. Thank you to every single one of you.
Let us know in the comments below - how and when you came across ERB or what has been your favourite memory - and we will select a couple of people to receive free merch. :)
And as a little extra thank you - you can get a whopping 30% off merch for the next 72 hours. Just head over to http://www.erbmerch.com and enter the code PAT30 at checkout.
Here's an idea: For your Tenth Anniversary, you should do a rematch between Lennon and O'Reilly...Maybe even bring in the rest of The Beatles!

My good friend all those years ago when you guys did the first Vader vs. Hitler sent me a link to the video randomly before I went to bed. Ended up rewatching several times before goin to sleep chuckling to myself. ERB has been part of my playlists ever since.

I was introduced to ERB the first day I met my fiance, 6 years ago. We can celebrate our anniversary with your birthday! We are still together and going strong. Planning the wedding, got the house, kids, dogs, and ERB. Life is good!

Damn! This track still holds up! Bill won by the way. That Don Cheadle line is still smoking after all these years.

It was Mozart Vs. Skrillex back in 2013 -- that was definitely the first for me and my brother.
Thing is, we didn't catch on to the online buzz or what was trending in our social media circles, we saw a physical flyer with the in-character mugs of Nice Peter and EpicLloyd posted to a random L station exit (when I was visiting previously mentioned brother) in Chicago.

Happy birthday, guys! I've been watching since Hitler vs Vader part I; I was introduced to your videos by accident, really; I was looking up something about Vader on youtube, and your video popped up as a hit. I saw it, thought "WTF?" and clicked on it. Been here ever since. When you started your Patreon, I knew I had to jump onboard to help you guys out. Keep up the great work, and I hope to see you guys live one day!

I was at a party back in 2014 with my then boyfriend, and I was feeling some social anxiety. A fellow partygoer started playing some early ERBs on the screen, and I was transfixed. I’ve been a huge fan ever since, and they’ve brought me a lot of joy.
I think my favorite moment was probably when the philosophers battle premiered. I was a philosophy major in college and just all-around philosophy enthusiast, and seeing Nietzsche rap battle was like a dream come true.
Happy 9th anniversary!

I've been watching since Hitler Vs Vader and been hooked ever since. Met a friend while running a pub with him and both loved your videos and we've been friends since. Best memories was seeing Pete at Bristol in 2014 and he called me out as the big bearded guy :D And then seen Pete and Lloyd in Cardiff in 2015 with my cousin ( who i introduced to ERB) and got to spend an hour or two after the show with them at the local pub. Been a fan ever since and will be for as long as i live, even my daughter loves you guy and that makes me a proud dad.

I'm a late-to-the-game person. My first episode was sent to me by a friend: Sir Isaac Newton vs. Bill Nye. Ever since then I was hooked. I am so hooked on some of the beats that I play them fairly regularly (enough to know the lyrics by heart).
I admire the amount of work that goes into crafting these and I'm always anxiously awaiting the next release. Hoping to one day bump up to a higher Patreon contribution so I can submit lyrics!
Happy 9th Birthday!

I first came across ERB through science fiction author Walter Jon Williams, who posted the "Edison vs. Tesla" video on his blog. I've been a fan ever since.

I came across ERB sometime after Season 3 ended. Superman vs. Goku popped up in my recommendations, so I watched and immediately was hooked. I subscribed, went back, and caught up on the rest in time for Season 4 (including all the behind the scenes videos on ERB2). It was very satisfying to be current with each new battle as they came out ever since, and now I love being able to contribute as a patron. You guys (collectively, not just Peter and Lloyd...the awesome team behind ERB as a whole) are seriously the best.

The first one I watched was Hulk Hogan and Macho man vs. Kim Jong Il, I think. I was an instant fan. I don't often meet fellow ERB fans IRL, so my favourite ERB memory was probably when I met a dude at a party who, like me, had memorized all the lyrics from every ERB video. So we would just put on an ERB playlist on shuffle, and at the start quickly decide who was gonna be who, and then rap battle each other over the lyrics. It was great.

Happy Birthday! ;)
I think I had seen the Gates vs. Jobs one at some point, but I found you guys proper around the time of the Edison vs. Tesla release. I distinctly remember getting to you after seeing some... "Old people react to ERB" video (not sure how I got to those react-videos, I had watched something else, got detoured to two or three of these and then ended on that one, before jumping over to you) - and that one used the Gandhi vs. Martin Luther King Jr. video in it (The old people didn't like it, because those were good people. They much preferred the Vader vs. Hitler one they had been shown.) I then went on to watch the backlog, or most of it (timing makes a lot of sense as well, as around that time I would have had enough spare time, as the Tesla/Edison release falls squarely into my usual, annual paid leave from work) and then continued with the release of Babe Ruth versus Lance Armstrong (as a European non-sports-watching person, that one was a bit less interesting, but I had seen what you guys could do, and I was on the hook already)
It's interesting to see that I have been with you since slightly before the end of Season 2. I could have sworn I had joined later and watched more episodes on the backlog, but looking at the episode list... yeah, that must have been how it played out.
Thank you for hours of amazing entertainment, guys, it's been a blast and I hope it continues to be one just as much. Also, not sure how you pick, but I'm not a merch person, so just in case I get picked - please skip me in favor of someone else. I just wanted to share my story with ERB.

I came across ERB around 7 years ago when my friend told me to watch a video involving Darth Vader and Hitler rapping, which I immediately watched and loved. Been loving the battles ever since and have successfully managed to memorise every battle to date haha

When I was a much younger lad, I somehow, someway had found the Epic Rap Battle between Chuck Norris and Abraham Lincoln. I literally almost died by laughter. It was pretty close. When I was able to catch my breath, I had realized that these two guys are better than most people in rapping. Watching these fellows YouTube videos taught me more about history than my entire previous education combined. These battles are comedic, witty and intelligent like your ideal love interest. They’re also ruthless, ask Bruce Lee. (He was actually really good too.) Some are just like... how you say... straight fire! (Capone vs. Blackbeard) You would forget that it’s supposed to be comedy. Some of these battles are too close to even choose a winner. (Deadpool vs. Boba Fett) Even the beats are so good! My personal favourite is the one used for Jack the Ripper vs. Hannibal Lecter. I’ll put that song on repeat. Thank you for letting the beat play for a bit after the battle. That guitar. Damn son. That’s a lot of typing. Clint Eastwood is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Keep up the good work!

My first was the Jobs vs Gates and as an enthusiast for Linux and Free (with a capital F) software I greatly appreciated how that one ends! You once said, of all the battles, you researched that one the most and it really shows.

I discovered you guys shortly after your 3rd battle (Chuck Norris vs. Abe Lincoln). Ever since then I've always been excited for every battle to be released. The collabs have introduced me to other great creators that I've grown to be a huge fan of, mainly Rhett and Link, I've been a Mythical Beast for seven years now. I have seen ERB live, I made a playlist with my favorite battles (most of them) that I listen to all the time. I got merch. I guess you can say I'm a fan lol

I don’t exactly remember when but I remember how I found ERB :)
I was pretty new with YouTube and being “online” (and I was pretty young) so I watched a lot of “Annoying Orange”
One episode AO released was “ Epic Rap Battles Of Kitchenry” and I loved the format. Then my older brother and his friend saw what I watched and my brother said “ hey! That looked like an ERB video! “ and I didn’t know what ERB was back then so they showed me the channel and BOOM! I became a huge fan! Sadly I don’t remember what my first ERB video I watched was but I think it was Albert Einstein VS Stephen Hawking :)
So yeah: that’s how I found you guys 😅

The first battle I saw was Gandhi vs. MLK. I remember my friend watching it on a computer in our 9th grade geography class (lol), and I was intrigued because I was a Key & Peele fan as well. Afterwards I watched every battle you guys had made up to that point. Then I became a subscriber and have been waiting excitedly for each new battle ever since!

It was during the summer of 2012; I had just finished my freshman year of high school. I was looking on Youtube and saw Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates suggested. At the time, I had no idea who either of those people were, but I think it may have been God’s hand that compelled me to click, and it was the second best decision I’ve ever made, second only to my decision to pursue my Celtic Thunder fandom. I anxiously wait for every single episode!

I've been subscribed to you guys since F. Mercury vs. F. Sinatra, when I was going through a Jazz and Swing phase (haha, those were some days...), and expected Sinatra to blow away Mercury. Only then did I finally learn who exactly he was up against (I didn't know names of any member of Queen then).
After that I watched every video at the time with an awe-struck feeling of how you guys managed to make the history I loved into something people can find fun, and not just as something to memorize to pass a test for a class they fell asleep in.
I still enjoy the textbook history characters (i.e. Roosevelt, MLKjr., Guevara, Stalin, etc.) more than your requested history characters (i.e. the comedians, Irwin, Ash, Ghostbusters, etc.), but you opened my eyes to more.
For that I thank you for everything so far, and for what's to come. Consider me a Patron for life for all you have done. These words cannot truly explain the relevance your series has had in my life.
Cheers to Lloyd & Pete, and everyone at ERB,

Einstein vs Hawking was the first battle I saw and I thought it was inspired. “This is fantastic! How come nobody has done this sort of thing before?”
I’ve been obsessed since.
I once rap battled Pete on stage. Got the whole Poe fast flow down and everything.
It really is just a gift what you guys have put out here.

I was living with my mom just starting over after my husband left me. I was working part time as a housekeeper, trying to hold onto hope that I could get out of the small town I was in, and really struggling with life.
One night, I was cruising YouTube and I came across Vader vs. Hitler. I laughed until I cried. I laughed more than I had in months. I went back and watched Lennon vs. O’Reilly, and laughed some more. I was hooked.
It went from ERB’s to watching The Monday Show. I pretty much watched them right as they came out. I made a point of it. I actually sent Pete fan mail... a poem (yes, I’m a poet). I even watched Dis Rap’s For Hire. I had to hit it all up.
I’ve watched every battle, every Monday show, special announcement. I even remember when Peter asked us to upvote a reddit post and email him. I did, and he told me his middle name is Alexis. I’m still kinda tickled about that.
The ERB family got me through some really bad times. Monday shows made me feel happy when I couldn’t feel anything else. I actually cried when I thought there wouldn’t be anymore videos. It just hurt because you’d been there.
But, hey! You’re here now, and I get to be a part of this. It’s a joy to be a part of something I’ve loved for so long. Thank you, Peter, Lloyd, the entire ERB family, for bringing something awesome to the world.

I remember stumbling across the channel near the beginning of season 3, ..watched a couple, thought it was a funny idea, but didn't expect it to hook me, didn't watch any more until the Poe v. King battle popped up in my feed, and because I was pretty familiar with both of them, saw how intricate the writing got, made me go back and analyse every battle.
It's only gotten more precise and well-sculpted, I watch every new battle easily fifty times over, at first to catch every line, eventually just because it sounds so good, the whole time getting teary from the absolute brilliance.
Thank you Peter, Lloyd, Zach and everyone else at ERB, you all have built something very special and look forward to everything you create from here on out.

In the summer of 2011, one of my cousins showed me Einstein vs. Hawking and Mays vs. Franklin. When I was home, I immediately went through all 13 of the battles that were out at the time (up to Suess vs. Shakespeare). Ever since the release of the next video, Mr. T vs. Mr. Rogers, I've watched every battle (+bts) put out and memorized a ridiculous amount of lyrics. Many friends at my old middle school did, as well, and we would spend many mornings outside class reciting the lyrics to Gandalf vs. Dumbledore, Napoleon, etc. I've actually learned a lot from the videos too. Not just about the writing, directing, and producing process. But, I know how to spell Nietzsche from memory. LOL I know the extent of Alexander the Great's conquests. I could go on. ERBs are among some of the best content you can get on YouTube, if not the whole internet. It's part of my childhood and the talent continues to amaze me. And it's great to see it still thriving (independently, no less!) after so many years. ^.^

First saw ERB when I was 11. Came across it when I saw the annoying orange parody featuring Peter. Googled “Epic Rap Battles...” and saw Justin Bieber vs Beethoven. Beethoven cursing was the funniest shit to me back then. So watched all of season 1 within weeks. This is when I knew I found the best YouTube channel ever.

Middle school, it would be a competition to see who could memorize the lyrics to the newest battles. Now, there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t watch/listen to one or more battles. They’ve gotten me through a lot, and I’m eternally grateful for the wonderfully consistent content for close to a decade! Thanks ERB!

It was the classic case of YouTube constantly recommended me a video to the point where I just caved in an watched it. That video was Darth Vader vs Adolf Hitler. My mind was blown, I went back and watched John Lennon vs Bill O'Reilly and became obsessed with ERB ever since. I remember showing my cousin the first two episodes and we would desperately wait for new episodes. We would bond together, watching the videos and discussing possible match-ups. My favorite memory with ERB has to be when my cousin was telling me that he would like to see a battle between Einstein and Hawking and not even a week later, the actual Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking video came out. He was so excited that his idea had actually became a battle! Plus, he was somehow convinced that you guys spied on our conversation and made the battle based specifically on his suggestion.

After I got back to the states one of the first Internet vids my friend showed me was Vader VS Hitler which I immediately loved. I then found out there were more videos in the series and gobbled them up, showing them to all my friends!! The first new battle to drop for me was Einstein VS Hawking and its still one of my favorites to this day and solidified me as a life long fan ^^ I have every album signed and can't wait for each new battle to drop! You guys rock :3

My brother came up to me after school one day like, "Have you seen this Epic Rap Battles of History thing?" I said no, and he showed me I think Darth Vader vs Adolf Hitler that night. I think the most recent one out by then was Hawking vs Einstein? So I was instantly hooked and fell in love, even when my brother thought they jumped the shark by Ben Franklin vs Billy Mays. My favorite memory associated with ERB probably has to be getting to be a part of the Discord/Patreon and feeling like I'm part of the process now.

I came in pretty early in season 2. I wanna say Mario Bros vs Wright Bros. It's made for really good pop cultural and historical shorthand and has helped me innumerable times over the last few years in pub trivia (okay it was thirteen times)
Favorites are probably philosophers East vs West, Jordan vs Ali, and Roosevelt vs Churchill.
Here's to many more years!

I think I came across the series when writing a quizbowl (i.e. trivia) question on rap battles circa 2011. FYI, here's what the question ended up being: "13. A Youtube video about the “worst one of [these events] ever” sees Eli weirdly looking up and to the left the whole time. A popular YouTube video shows Kenny from the Spirit Squad enticing John Cena to participate in one of these while walking past admiring fans. Nice Peter produced a YouTube series centering on these events including an entry where Billy Mayes (*) drops dead in the middle and is replaced by Vince Offer, and one featuring Abe Lincoln and Chuck Norris. Three celebrity judges pick winners in one of these contests every Friday on 106 & Park. A film that concludes with one of these events sees the protagonist render Papa Doc speechless and includes the song “Lose Yourself” on its soundtrack. For 10 points, name this type of contest that Rabbit wins at the end of 8 Mile.
