Rob Rico aka Che Guevara Q&A

Rob Rico dropped into the Discord chat yesterday and spoke to patrons for over an hour. Thank you to everyone who joined in and also to those of you who sent in questions. He has answered a bunch of them for you:

Has anyone said to you that you look like Che before? Cos u really do look like him. {and Jon Snow!} Honestly I’ve never been compared to Che before the battle, and even now it’s hard for me to see the similarities because I only see my self haha. As far as Jon Snow, I swear I got compared to Kit Harrington for the FIRST TIME just this year by a tour-mate.

What is your favourite ERB video other than Guevara vs Fawkes? Oh man, that’s a tough one…. I don’t wanna just name one of the classics. Henson versus Stan Lee, especially with that Walt cameo! (MIC, I Rock the MIC properly! KEY, Turning profits I got the KEY!)

What was it like on set? Is it as fun as it looks on the BTS? It’s not…. It’s even MORE fun than it looks. We had such a great time and the crew was so nice! I was just grateful I had a real beard for a day :D

If you could be in an ERB again is there a character who you'd really like to portray? I’d love to play Tommy Chong, Me and my brothers used to listen to the Cheech and Chong comedy albums all the time growing up! So it would be really fun to have the chance to bring back that character to a new generation an audience.

What was your reaction when you saw the finished video and what did your friends/family think? I was so surprised! I knew the video was gonna look cool, but the final product blew my mind! I had no idea i was even gonna be in black and white until I saw the video. As for my friends and family, they all loved the video of course. I think the coolest part was getting randomly texted from people I hadn’t talked to in a while who couldn’t believe I was Che haha!

Did you know much about Guevara beforehand or was he unknown to you? I knew him as the revolutionist from school, but the battle definitely opened up a side I had no idea was there. Especially the fact that he was a doctor at a pretty young age, considered quite the intellectual, and even wrote a book!

What is your favorite line from your verses? “You had one job CABRON!” Easily, haha

How do you first come across ERB? A loooong time ago (Season 1), a friend of mine showed me the Chuck Norris vs Abe Lincoln battle and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I hadn’t seen rap battles done like that before, so I was hooked

Are you an actor or musician for your normal job? I am! I travel and perform with a company called “Mission Improvable”. We perform at a lot of colleges and clubs across the entire country, so it’s a really cool job. I don’t perform my music as regularly as I’d like, but I’m working on changing that.

How would you say your performing work affected your portrayal of Che? Well I’ve been in my fair share of rap battles in real life, so I really wanted to bring that energy and vibe to Che. Even though it’s rapping as characters, it’s cool having the energy of, ”my crew” or “what I’m for” is doper than whatever your opponent is reppin. Especially since Che really was a man of the people, I tried my best to be as passionate as him.

How do you do that Che face? Eyebrows down, and scowl like someone just slapped your momma.

Who is funnier out of Atul and Morgan, Rob? I won't tell, don't worry. Too tough to decide ;) Plus, I’m sure they call Atul, “The Hammer” for a reason. I don’t wanna find out why!
