It's a sad day here in Taiwan...

A day of mourning.

The drone, or "Dronio", as we knew him, has decided to take eternal rest in the south China sea.

There was recently a typhoon, but after it passed, apparently the winds remained. It was ok on land, but about 3 meters up it was insane, and the poor little guy couldn't take it.

Vivi and I fought so hard to get it back, but the wind just kept sweeping it out to sea. It was draining it's little battery just trying to get back, but the wind was just too strong.

It's weird how stupidly sad we were, but for some reason as we watched the little screen and the controller that said "Going Home" as it went 100 meters, 400 meters, 1 km, 2 km away, we actually had tears in our eyes. Watching it do it's damnedest to try and come back to us, it was really heart wrenching.

To ease it's pain, I even tried to take it into the sea manually, but it refused, and said "unsuitable for landing". So there it was, with 1% battery, as it finally dropped into the sea forever.

We will miss the drone footage, and we salute you for 2 years of service. Goodnight sweet prince.
