Harry. maybe directioners don't like it, but I've heard it from enough independent sources to know it has some truth to it, even if that wasn't the intent... after zayn left, they had more ammo to use to their advantage, to make sure the album was as true to themselves as they wanted. so it came out as one of their strongest. technically it was thanks to zayn leaving but not entirely for the reason you mentioned. bc they were overworked too (maybe not to the point where z was with the ED and everything else) but they very easily could've just left if it didn't go their way. they just didn't bc of the fans. who still don't appreciate it and want them to go back to an unhealthy environment.
