16 Years of LGR!

https://youtu.be/1gNoeCP1SCU

Just a simple one here marking the relentless passage of time!

It's been SIXTEEN years of LGR existing, wow. So this is just thinking back on how it's been, evaluating how it's been going, and how I hope things might go in the future. Especially the last part because things are changing — for the better, I hope! Also some home rebuild updates 8 months after the hurricane for those of you who haven't seen them in the monthly LGR Wrap Up videos.

Back in the next week or so with a review of a rather unanticipated but highly exciting bit of new tech that speaks to my 2000s-loving soul.

Late to the conversation but, speaking as someone who lost their home (New Orleans area) to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (and just realizing that I'm coming up on the 20th anniversary of that), you will persevere. I was 10 years married with three young children (4, 5, and just turning 8 at the time). We lost basically everything. Evacuated to Arkansas (life-long friend lived here at the time) on a Saturday and home was destroyed by Monday. Spent the next 5+ years fighting with insurance and mortgage company trying to get funds to fix the house (I was the guy who did everything right with insurance & etc. and got screwed but that's another story). Bottom line, we got through it. We were a better family for it. Those first few years were tough and I know exactly what you mean about being on autopilot (you saying that really triggered the memories). We wound up settling here. I was already basically self-employed/remote work at the time of the storm and was able to keep working. I'm rambling but you'll get through it. It's a tough slog and there's going to be times when you'll just slump from a stumble or set back but, trust me, you will persevere.

Congatulations on 16 years, and I'm happy to hear your house is coming together. Weird question, what is the screensaver or patterns shown on the TV behind you? It's very cool looking.

I've been on here since 2018 and rarely say anything but I think doing sponsorships for a bit of extra help is perfectly reasonable. Some channels can layer them on or take ones of dubious origin but I would definitely trust your judgement on what sponsors you'd have on.
