The August 2024 LGR Wrap Up video is now available for viewing, so let's dive into the videos (all 2 of them, lulz) from the past month as well as your submitted questions.

Feel free to leave any questions for next month's video in the comment section below this post. Thank you so much for your ongoing support, I wouldn't be able to keep LGR going as it is without it!

Just joined your Patreon after seeing the hurricane thing. Had no idea you did these wrap ups. Is it weird that my favorite part is all the swearing? Anyway, great stuff.

Banger wrap-up, King. As for my question, since you're such a big fan of many of Will Wright's past projects, what are your thoughts on Proxi?

Not a question but a possible video idea. I at least haven't come across a sort of beginners guide to building a 90's computer video. I think there might be people who might find it usefull. Sure we know the pitfalls and whatnots of that era but younger folk might not. Maybe they want to move from DOSbox to try something on the real hardware. I know this topic can balloon to absurd proportions but if kept focused enough I think it might work. I mean tips like don't touch AT or older stuff, start with ATX stuff so you can use new PSUs. Old hard drives can give headache, maybe suggest some SD or similar solutions you use. Get a soundblaster, has the best support, that kind of stuff. If they want to dive deeper, there are plenty of repair etc videos but at that point they already know what they want. But if you "just want a 90's gaming pc" then watching 12 hours of repair etc videos to get some idea of what's going on can be tedious.

Question... If you had a time machine and you could only use it once to take you back to one point in history, when would you return to? It's a tricky one for me.. I'd probably go around 1996/1997 right as the technology had just become affordable for many and some really cool things were coming out. I'm 38 now so around then I couldn't afford anything really! It's really cool that we still keep these systems running but the ability to walk around a big box store from that time would be really cool.

Yer Da sells Avon.. ;)

As a 30-something myself, I always appreciate a Short Circuit reference! Question: Creatives often grow to dislike their old work as their skills improve, so I'm curious. What videos (if any) from your earlier YouTube career are you still particularly proud of, and that you feel have stood the test of time?

Q: Your Long Island Retro retrospective video was probably the best retrospective video you've done to date -- yet I am saddened to see it isn't performing as well as your other videos typically do. Retrospectives take a lot of hard work to produce. Is their performance not worth it anymore, and will you be giving them up to dedicate more time to subjects that perform better?

Hey Clint, my apologies about my overly-complicated question! It was really interesting to hear your answer, I was indeed meaning that I tinker too much with my personal system as I feel like I don't have any other reason to tinker with any other PC hardware (which I love doing)! But I see what you mean about them being separate for you. I think I need a hobby that allows me to tinker with something anyway :-)

Remember when LGR had 2 videos a week? :D One on Monday and one on Friday. Mr Mackey: "Conventions are bAaAaD, Mkay?" Ohh, I was lucky, I bought a CRT monitor from a guy and I paid around $10 for it and we debated how much the shipping is going to be, he shipped it for $10 and said I don't need to pay for the monitor because he felt it's going to be at a good place with me. And the thing arrived without an issue, nothing got damaged. I don't remember if it was its original packaging, I don't think so but it was packed well and survived the transit. It's a pretty neat white or light beige Samsung Syncmaster.

I'm glad you made that LS120 camera video. It was enjoyable and I learned that it existed. I _almost_ bought one too, just for that external USB LS120 drive. (I have an internal drive and ~8 brand new disks left) I figured I could use it for file exchange. I wish the YouTube analytics didn't make you beat yourself up. I enjoy your content regardless of the frequency.

I like your "weird camera" videos.

Oh aye

Shite is a really good word. Even better with s Scottish accent

Dave Velociraptor

Shame about the context, but as a Brit I must admit hearing you say "shite" did tickle me 😅

This might be something you can't really answer off the top of your head, so feel free to pass it up if so. But, I'm considering a late 90's early 2000's Windows 98SE era PC for hot frag on frag gaming. What would your suggestion be for the easiest to get my hands on that wouldn't be excessively expensive and easiest to maintain. I got a Compaq Deskpro in 1999 that was lost in a fire in 2001. Not sure that's a good choice though for what I'm looking for. To be clear, looking for something pre-built, willing to build, but thank a pre-built might be easier to manage.
