LGR - Unreal Tournament 2004 20 Years Later

https://youtu.be/abmiv22Q7xA

The longest LGR game retrospective yet! UT2004 is a huge favorite and it was a must-cover for me in 2024, so seeing as it turned twenty at the end of March, here we are. My last two weeks have been utterly chock full of work on this, other than a brief diversion to put together that last donations unboxing video. Time well spent, I hope!

Feel free to share your thoughts on this one once you've given it a watch. And $5+ patrons can expect the next LGR Wrap Up episode in the coming week if all goes well.

ALSO! I will be attending Vintage Computer Festival East here pretty soon. Since I'm taking a break from VCFMW this year I've made a point to visit some others, and having never visited VCF East I'm pretty stoked to hang out and see what it's like. Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Will admit I haven't played UT2004 as much as I've played UT99, but it is still a blast to play for sure. UT2003 is an odd beast though. I recently acquired a copy, so I should give it a go. I always assumed it was like a beta for 2004 or something, so I just thought it was more or less the same game. Learning how unique it was, for better or worse, kinda had my mind blown a bit there. UT99 will always be my favourite but as far as I'm concerned, any flavour of UT is worth playing and still holds up wonderfully.

Ahh, you and me both then! HL2 is the other one I feel utterly compelled to revisit and cover this year.

I’ll often wait until the video is live before watching, but this one basically demanded viewing ASAP. Both UT2k4 and Half-Life 2 effectively defined late adolescence for me.
