LGR Wrap Up - January 2024

Just got to watching the Wrap Up (yeah, just after the next one came out). A video on weird keyboards? Hell yeah, I'd buy that for doll... I'd watch that!

Hey Clint, what's your history with Retroware TV? I've long held onto hope that you'd appear at one of the TooManyGames expos in Philly (in June each year), but Retroware is largely behind them and I didn't know the terms you were on with them, let alone the travel distance. Would be curious about how you got involved/uninvolved. Have a great March!

Sorry, random question or 2. Favorite go to food for nursing a hangover? And do you have any games you've ever been exposed to that after playing you feel kinda off afterwards? I mean in the idea that the subject matter went a direction that afterwards you were like "that's just plain wrong, man"

Dustin Matteson

Hey Duke Nukem you seem to have an eye for an automobile or two Question is are you a car nut?

Salem93

Aw hell yeah

LGR

Ugh man, tell me about it. The number of times stories about myself or my family life was brought up during sermons and sunday school and youth group meetings... Always made me wanna just sink into my pew/chair and disappear.

LGR

Loved hearing you talk about your upbringing and the clash between games and church. Had a Christian upbringing in the 90's myself, even though it seems a bit more liberal than yours as no games where physically harmed here. But my father ones held a sermon in church about the latest game he'd seen me play (can't remember the exact game, probably Diablo or Warcraft) and how he disapproved of it. Was quite a strange feeling sitting in church and being talked about like that.

MrMattan

I quite enjoyed this wrap up. I'd be down for weird keyboards. Also I'm glad to hear that you're into hats cause I sent you one with that Star Trek mouse lol.

Jurassic_Jacob

Whatever others say, i like your odd-ware episodes.

stynx

+1 for Hugo! Those games have special importance to me... some of my earliest use of a hex editor to change assets and generally mess around with things to see what would happen.

I just want to say, I love Thrifts, always gets me in the mood to go out to my local fleamarket and get some cool loot! I sometimes go back to old episodes and watch the whole playlist again! LOL, you could turn into Jamiroquai with more and more silly hats :D I was facepalming so hard, hearing those "christian" burning stories, holy hell... It was painful, both hearing that high-price games got destroyed but also this was in a more civilised era yet people still acted (and still act) so zealously. I had a huge chuckle out of the end of your story though :D I mom was highly religious when I was a kid but she later calmed down. But she never wanted to force it on us, she talked about stuff but we were never forced to follow, luckily.

Dukefazon

Keep being "just a dude". Some people won't like it. Whatever. That's like their opinion, dude.

Tossabaddle

Wear as many hats as you want. I love seeing them.

Alyxx the Rat

Yes! I really liked the hat too!😉

Brandie Drown

I for one enjoy your hats! lol

Burning games, what the heck. o.O I was baptized as a baby into the Evangelic church, here in Germany you have the two branches which being Roman Catholic and the original Martin Luther Evangelic branch and a bunch of smaller ones, but got out when i could. One little sheet of paper you should keep until you kick the bucket over here as in ten years after you left the church *will* come and try to get the lost church tax as the public record about that official act will get purged from the record. But even with my grandparents being somewhat religious i was never pestered with that, i even told my grandmother that i wont do the confirmation, even passing on the money one gets over here for that. Why should i go to something i don't believe in? Easter 1989 my brother died of child death, thats when an infant forgets how to breath, and i wanted nothing to do with a god that let that happen. Got me into scientific thinking and the library being my "temple". Question: As i watched way too many isekais lately, one about that for you. Oh no! Truck-Kun got you and you will be reincarnated into a world full of magic, heroes and monsters. But the Goddess grants you two superpowers and you can take one book from your old life with you into your itembox. The first power is said itembox, a type of bag of holding that is always on you, and the second is to your choosing. One rule, you can never come back to Earth. What will you choose?

BastetFurry

Not really a new revelation for me, but just wanted to add that you have excellent taste in music 😁

Whenever I complete a particularly good project I get s happy feeling of "this was worth all of the time spent working on it" Do you get that feeling whenever you export the final version of a video and prepare to start the upload process? I can imagine you getting that happy feeling when you worked on the recent simcity videos

Sina Farhat

10/10 hat rant

Jacob Owen Lütje

so for my next question, what is your most enjoyable process in content creation? Thanks again for all you do!

Brandie Drown

we need to make this drunken tangent happen!! XD would love to hear all the stories!

Brandie Drown

Ahh thank you for answering all the questions! Really love these wrap up vids! We get to learn so much about you! The last question was exceptionally good! I grew up in a southern baptist church myself, but didn't experience the same things you did! thats crazy! Im glad to hear your parents have chilled out a bit lol.

Brandie Drown

I never expected you to have that religious experience while young!! Realizing you’re in the south kinda makes that track. Still, fascinating subject and drunken tangents are always a blast. Interesting to see it didn’t change any aspect of your childhood adoration of video games lol

Saul

I would always get recommended thrifts videos when I’d repeatedly watch the same old LGR videos (lol big fan of the iPAQ, Gizmondo, Tapwave Zodiac) so maybe it recommends it to your own viewers? No idea, but thrifts 50 was the first one I watched!

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, but have ever considered trying out or talking the subject of RetroNAS? I know it can be useful when paired with things like the MiSTer, but I was wondering since you have such a variety of systems, both consoles and PC, that it could be of use. Bob from retrorgb did a video when it was first became known over a year or so ago. Oh and also, I know you're not into doing much sponsorship work, but have you ever thought of HIMs? I believe Joe from Game Sack was using it and from what I can tell, it looks like it helped him with his hair. BTW keep up doing whatever you want man. Always enjoyed your content and it's variety. I know you don't take as many donations, but hit me up if you want to try some our local alcohol. I've been seeing gift samples lately and thought about sending some to friends I got abroad. Personally I'm not a drinker, but I can recommend a few of these little whiskey makers. Good stuff 👌

A weird keyboards episode would be awesome! We've been seeing a lot of weird KBs at Free Geek Twin Cities recently - got one in the other day that had all the usual macro keys for Internet Explorer, email, etc., but then one key that was just a coffee cup. No label, no text, no anything, just… coffee. We figured it was probably intended for Java but since we had also recently had an I-Opener in, we also made lots of jokes about needing a pizza key to go with the coffee key. (I think it was even an ergonomic keyboard too, so, double weirdness!)
