LGR - The Agfa ePhoto Clik!

https://youtu.be/RpNXb-6tahQ

And here we go, the first LGR camera retrospective in years! I kinda had my fill on these a while back but since then I've collected a good number of a fascinating specimens, and this Agfa ePhoto CL30 Clik has long been at the top of my Want To Cover list. And for whatever reason now felt like the time to do it! It's also sort of a follow-up to the Iomega Clik! drive featured on Oddware, um... half a decade ago now. Jeez.

Also! This is the other main video I was working on before leaving for New York several weeks back, and I had originally envisioned a rather short and less involved episode... Yeah that never happens, ha. The more I dove into this thing throughout the month, the more funky details I uncovered. Plus I somehow ended up with not one but two dead CL30 cameras, so I quickly ordered the Polaroid version this past week and thankfully it worked which let me add the bits about resolution scaling and interpolation.

At this point I don't have any more large projects really in the works. No videos at least, just a whole lotta organization, preparation, and packing. And that's because VCF Midwest is happening all too soon! I'll be there with a larger exhibition of LGR things than ever, including the Bear-A-Byte PC, the Oddware Tower, and the Woodgrain 486. Plus a pile of LGR-related merchandise and fresh collectibles for sale, this is some truly unique stuff! I'm getting pretty darned excited and I hope to see as many of you there as possible.

So yeah, I will definitely have another video going up before the show but at this point I have no idea what. Something I can crank out in a handful of days I hope. I also hope you enjoy the odd Agfa Clik cam coverage in the meantime, and thank you as always for your support!

As mentioned around 08:45, the controls sadly don't work either. The problems go deeper than just the display.

I wonder if you could use the CF camera as a guide for scrolling and clicking on the Clik camera. If the interfaces are identical and you boot to the same point - using the working display as a guild maybe you could reach the settings you want to be changed on the camera with the broken display.

Nice, I hope you enjoyed this one too! I kinda forgot how much fun these cameras are to talk about, it was refreshing to cover.

LGR

I am indeed familiar with it but it already has a ton of coverage on YouTube, so I don’t have much to add to what’s been said. Even then it’s not really the type of thing I cover on LGR anyway. I appreciate the interest though :)

Hey Clint! Sup man, I have been a huge supporter of you for like 10 years now and never asked for aynthing, But now I have a request, lol. The way you do you Tech tales is amazing and in my opinion the best content you have, can you please do a tech tales on the Doom wad called "myhouse.wad" the story is INCREDIBLE! such a rabbit hole and incredible map design. It is a tribute to the book "house of leaves". Im begging you, please make this video. look into it, if you havent heard of it, but you probably have. thanks bro

Zachary Eaton

I don’t have the eye for photography but this was an interesting dive into what would have been a neat gadget to sell in a big box store.

Nate Greene

I had a rapid succession of crap-cams back in the 90s..... But, this one is unique. :)

Rik

As a working artist / photographer, your camera videos are always my favourite! Never get tired of going back to those early days.

The grocery is still around to my knowledge, but not nearby anymore since I moved

LGR

Good to see one of these again after a while, but dang, RIP to the statues - and also, presumably, the grocery store (and I think there was also a bowling alley?).

Valora Inverse

Nope! The screens power up on each of them. Problems seemingly go deeper seeing as none of the rear controls work and I can’t even change the menu settings blind. Plus I’d rather not risk it and destroy both of them, which is more than likely considering my track record trying to fix 90s digicams 😬

LGR

Not going to swap the screens, Clint?
