LGR - eMachines eTower 566

As of Friday I am home again from the 12-hour-long drive back and forth to the VCF Midwest show, and after a solid day mostly spent sleeping from sheer exhaustion I started working on this video to try and get back into the groove of things.
This is actually the one PC that I purchased at the show: the "Never Obsolete" eMachines 566ir! It's one of those that I appreciate less for its capabilities and more for the context in which it existed back in the day. Y'know, that silly yet effective marketing that made it not only free*** to take home, but also offered that infamous claim of always being up to date if you took advantage of the upgrade program that provided a new computer every to years. It's something I've talked about before on LGR in my Tech Tales episode about the company, but I've wanted to a bit of a closer look at one of the systems themselves for a long time and finding this one complete was just the opportunity to do so.
And now to see if I can find my footing on the VCFMW video, jeez. My brother and I ended up recording nearly 300 gigabytes of video at the show and around town, so I have no idea if that'll come together in time for next week or not. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this eMachines thing!

Did that PC boot up super fast? If so, that's impressive, considering the time period it came from.

2022-09-29 20:15:20 +0000 UTCThis was a great video. I wonder if LGR would do a video on the story of Packard Bell, or do a video on one of their desktops or laptops? My first personal laptop was a Packard Bell Igo 2491. I'm from the UK. I had nothing but problems with it, seemed faulty RAM that never got fixed despite being returned for repair many times. I've always been interested in the brand. I'm not sure if they are still around. I also used to work for Time/Tiny computers and I think they were purchased by Gateway? Again, UK only companies I think, but I think LGR would enjoy them and their systems, if only for how bad they were.
