Yes, there have been a lot of quick, on-the-spot videos over the last week while Jordan has been obsessed with covering the Epstein news. But we've still been hard at work on the regular content, this video is an in-depth look at John Howard. For a huge number of the current woes this country is facing, you can pin a lot of them on Howard.
We've made a lot of them already but we're trying to make as many explainers like this video as possible. Focusing on quick, breaking stories lets us use the rest of our time on detailed videos like this one. Thank you for your support that allows us to do this!

2025-07-21 03:52:58 +0000 UTCI am unsure how much the private school thing is purely about elite schools from Howard's perspective. There are a significant number of lower fee faith based schools like Catholic schools etc. which are still private/independent etc. but not elitist. But Jordan is right in that it follows Howard's principle that those who bother to care about improving their lives and have the means to do so get ahead better at partial expense of the collective. The driving psychology behind these lower fee faith based schools is different imo. Parents don't desire to send kids there necessarily because they perceive the private education is "better" or leads to some sort of exec job or higher class mobility, but rather there is a filtering and self-selection process whereby people with similar values congregate, where behaviour and expectations of the students based on upbringing and the values instilled by the school are seen as more desirable than secular public schools. Importantly kids that are troublesome can get expelled and kept out, so the baseline behaviour of the students is better. So really what Howard did with independent schools and his pride in that, is he created a mid-tier system where "aspirational" parents who valued education and/or faith based values had the option to pay extra for an education environment that delivered that extra value. In itself, this doesn't actually sound bad. The problem is the students from parents who either didn't give a shit about that or were unable to afford it were left behind concentrated in public schools, which had the effect of degrading public schools into schools of last resort where these types of people congregate. And so it embodied Howard's philosophy of those can advance themselves should not be held back even if doing so leaves behind others and makes the system overall more inequitable. I don't think it was mainly this superficial idea of parents sending their kids to these schools because they somehow thought that would make them part of the ruling elite, and I don't think that's how Howard would see it either. It was about undermining universalism in favour of residualising public services to a bare minimum safety net that could be progressively starved due to reduced participation. Anyway I probably just rehashed Jordan's Howard show without having seen it

The Sloan Zone, who I do think is probably still a Greens leaning guy that has the one trait most Greens people lack, reasonability. And some really old dude who's channel is called The Tony Tonkin Show, I haven't exactly seen him say he's an outright Labor dedicatee, but he very often runs defense for Labor party actions/choices so

2025-07-20 06:36:29 +0000 UTCSpeaking of Hawk and Keating doing shit no one else was doing at the time, was watching some news coverage of Albo visiting China, naturally they were downplaying its relevance/importance as much as possible and as a method of doing so they harkened back to when Whitlam visited and officially recognised China. They made a point that him doing that wasn't anywhere near as hyped up "as Labor wants you to think" since there were about 60 other countries that had already officially recognised them, naturally obscuring the fact that back in the early 70s there would have still been a whole bunch of Socialist nations that of course would have done so by then, they all would have also been poor or tiny or massively embargoed by the advanced western world, or all 3. Don't really know why I made this comment, that one part of the video just made the thought force its way into my head like Jim Carrey coming out of that fake rhino

What he did do is criminalise every movement LAFOs (Law Abiding Firearms Owners) made. The Crims are still getting guns and still committing crimes and the response to that is RIGHT MAKE LIFD WORSE FOR PEOPLE WHO LEGALLY HAVE GUNS. You get 6 months for holding up a shop with a gun ( loaded or not) but a LAFO will get TWO YEARS for a live round in their pocket with nothing to set off the round. And everytime there's an opportunity to get rid of the '96 knee jerk laws and replace them with much more sain and inexpensive policing both sides go NUP! FUCK'EM HARDER. And the Crims? Nah they're okay. And the Feral Animals just get worse & worse. Destroying more. And now there's no stopping them.
