LGR - Interpose X-mas Greetings

It's December! Which means Christmas LGR for the next few weeks, hehe.

This first topic is the holiday edition of Interpose for MS-DOS! A side-scrolling spaceship shooter made in Norway by Twilight Zone Software.

And it's actually pretty awesome, which is an overall rarity when it comes to seasonal games like this. Really wish I'd known about it back in '96, dang it.

Also, keep an eye out for clones.

I love these!

Chris Love

Nice game. That music was.. interesting. Loved the throwback into sequence btw

50_SHADES_OF_BEIGE

OMG, Thanks Clint, every year you give me at least one more game to add to my Christmas list :)

A Norwegian game, that's a nice surprise :) Since I'm a Norwegian. I never played this game though, but interpose sounds familiar. I really like that you don't die as soon as you crash into any walls and such.

Uncleawesome

Christmas! @.@

BastetFurry

This is driving me insane. I don't remember ever seeing this game, either in its normal iteration or this Christmas version, yet I distinctly remember reading that exact plot with evil scientist Atnas Sualc more than once. I guess it could have been from a preview on one of those CDs with demos that came with gaming magazines back then, but then why wouldn't have I installed and played it? I loved those kinds of games. The mysteries won't end!

Pablo Rodriguez

Really well scripted Clint. As always it is a pleasure watching your stuff

DannyDK

Pennywise, Chucky, Hannibal Lecter, Freddy Krueger, ... LGR Chrisstmaasss clone ;-) I am glad he is still alive.

Laurent

The full game should be on GoG!

Erwin Bierhof

Yaaayyy.. Christmas Clone Clint... NOW! It's Christmas. 🎄

Because Why-Nerd

Thats a nice looking game. I'm curious what Xmas title tune used for this vid is, it sounded like a MOD of some kind.

Mark Elliott

There's no christmas without christmas clone! :D

Akselmo

Wow! I've never seen shareware with those kind of cutscene production values before, really impressive!

Jeremy Abel

Hey Clint, can you tell the Christmas clone I said "Christmaasss christmas!" (that means Merry Christmas in clone speak)

Zachary Outen

I definitely played this back in the day but completely forgot about it. As soon as I saw the gameplay, it all came back. Thanks for the jolt of memory! christmas

Funny to see how the LGR Christmas clone became like other weird season traditions. Like watching Die Hard or using a windows Christmas theme. In mid november I start to wonder what the Christmas clone is up to. The internet is a weird place... Great video btw, never even heard about this one before. Happy holidays Clint.

Deckard Games

CHRISTMAS!... say hi to the clone from me.

Grunk

I started watching your channel a couple years ago and now your clones are one of the things I look forward to every Christmas 😅🌲🎅🏾 Out of curiosity, what's the first appearance of the clones?

DFawlt Uzr

I live in Sarpsborg. Nice to feel represented. :D

Alyxx the Rat

I'd imagine not, Twilight Zone developed strictly for the PC. They even talked some trash against the Amiga in some of the Readme files I read! The music was made with Fast Tracker 2 though, which can produce a very similar sound.

LGR

Nope! Haha, it's just Christmas Clone, no name.

LGR

Is your Xmas clone named Carol? I tried to comment before, but I guess it didn't go through.

slyfoxninja

Awesome video. I'm wondering if the intro music was done on an Amiga given the separated stereo that Amigas had?

Bryndal Dwyre

Also, I'm going to guess that removing an item from the box takes a piece of your soul to replace it, and by the end of the month you will be trapped in the box and Christmas Clone will take your place, heavily breathing out "St. Patrick's Day"

Tukaro

Me neither, it deserves more coverage! I'm hoping to track down the full game and give it a playthrough, for sure.

LGR

Christmaaassss

CHRISTMAS

LGR

🤔🤔🤔

They definitely aren't for everyone! Although the thing with shooters is that hidden between all the mindless scrollers out there, there's always a diamond in the rough doing something different that requires a unique strategy. I wonder if you'd enjoy something like Ikaruga, where the gimmick is that you have to swap your ship's colors constantly to avoid damage from enemy fire. Or Gemini Wing, where you not only pick up enemy weapons but you have to grab ammo for them as well, constantly switching between them to manage your shots.

LGR

Still waiting for an apocalyptic, roving Christmas Clone gang

Tukaro

Haha. I dunno, Captain Claw is a solid contender for that title!

LGR

This is the furriest thing you've ever reviewed and I dig it

How strange.. You love shooters, I hate them. :-) Seriously, they are one of my least favorite game types. I think besides not finding them fun, I also find it a bit absurd that every single one I've ever seen seems to have an infinite amount of ammo that is just constantly and absurdly shooting out from all directions. As if such a ship could ever exist. I don't understand why they couldn't design these so that you actually have limited amount of ammo or at least a delay between shots so that you have to use some strategy? Anyway, I must admit that the graphics, animation, and just overall presentation of this game is really amazing. I guess the link to the demo-scene helps explain that.

The 8-Bit Guy

A plumbbob? Maybe the Christmas Clone is an escaped Sim.

Steve Lovelace

OH NO HE'S BACK

Garoninja

Christmas clone!! 🥰

Adam Christensen

I enjoy these videos for so many reasons, not the least of which being the retro-style intro. I don't know how I hadn't heard of this game before either!

November Delta

Chrisstmaaasssss? Christmas!

LGR

Mysteries remain to be revealed.

LGR

I'm sure it'll have to evolve beyond just games at some point. But I've got plans for that eventuality :)

LGR

Xmaaas!

Heh, yeah that is intended. It's the name of the antagonist: 'Santa Claus' backwards, as explained in the bit just before that at 4:21.

LGR

Awesome video. One quick thing, at 4:38 in the video a word doesn't seen right. Almost jumbled or something.

I've been spamming my refresh button since last Sunday for the LGR Christmas Clone reveal. I'm not disappointed (and what do I do with my life?)!

Frederic St-Georges

With how somewhat niche Christmas software is, I wonder if your Christmas clone is ever gonna run out of Christmas games at one point? :P

I thought you turned into a clone last year! What the heck happened? Was this some alternate LGR dimension?
