Why I Don't Like Ground News

Hello Patrons,
This is a video we've been formulating for quite some time. If you spend a lot of time on Youtube you've probably seen ads for Ground News. It's a news aggregate service that tells you whether certain outlets lean "left or right".
Those who have been watching for a while probably know Jordan's thoughts on the oversimplification of slapping a label "left or right" on things. So, using Ground News as a starting point we thought this is an excellent time to do another breakdown of the propaganda model and how people perceive bias.
We're happy with how this one turned out but be warned, the information in it is pretty densely packed. This video probably contains the most concise explanation of why we do what we do at friendlyjordies.
As always with these bigger ones, we're interested to hear your thoughts. We also want to thank you for your continued support. We're planning to film our comeback video this week, looks like that one will be an intriguing little video.

Like the solutions to scientific problems, news is always out there and what we have is just a few invested parties filtering this information for what fits their agenda.

2025-01-27 13:01:27 +0000 UTCI agree with everything in the video more or less, but I still use it because despite the glaring flaws, it does provide a good variety of source coverage and is representative of what and how things are allowed to be covered by most news outlets. I agree in particular that the bias display feature is more of a gimmick than anything. Although, again, it can be useful to know how stories are being marketed in broad strokes.

That protest in rural Guizhou over local governments forcing farmers off of their small plots of land so a business park can be developed? Must be the CIA. That mother petitioning for the government to help rescue her daughter after she was kidnapped by child traffickers to deliver to a family who needed a broodmare/wife for their illiterate son? Her story was mentioned by Radio Free Asia, which is once again the CIA.
