Bradley do you know what the army actually does for hotel quarantine? I know the media paints it like they have soliders with m16s outside the Hyatt door, but their only role is to transport from plane to hotel- nothing more. Ffs, some chick escaped from hotel quarantine in Sydney- it’s blind luck she didn’t spread it up there. Equally, as Ali pointed out, in NSW they do use contractors- yes they have cops, but they mostly stay on the outside of the hotels, not outside the doors. Again, this is how powerful and pervasive the murdoch narrative becomes, even spreading to friendlyjordies patreon page lol.

This hysteria around belt and road is, once again, an instance of media hypocrisy (feeding into the bullshit ‘chariman Dan’ narrative, saying Vic is ‘North Korea’ ffs) the federal libs are far more thoroughly intertwined in chinese business dealings than Vic. (Hell, one of their sitting members has known links to the ccp). Victoria is not going to be ‘debt trapped’ by China- tiny pacific islands, sure, but not Vic (and not for the size of the loan). It’s a business decision and a smart one- it will drive infrastructure and economic ties with China, nothing more. Also, the ABC is rabidly anti-china; the bois have covered this well. Danandrews ‘can’t be trusted’ comes straight from Andrew Bolt’s mouth, btw.

hey paul, can confirm that the liberal opposition is as well regarded as a soggy biscuit here in melbourne, and while most people in my circle have alot of respect for andrews, i see ALOT of hate online (facebook, twitter) from people with fishing photos for dp's (no hate, i'm sure fishing' great and leaves them equally qualified as the premier to weigh in with their advice). It's concerning... never seen that much criticism directed to berejiklian from that demographic :(

Nah, my friends and family have been lapping it up, they think Dandrews is the worst. I keep hoping that they will crack a smile and laugh at how they've been trolling me like a flat earther might, but the laugh never comes.

Looking on from Tasmania (where I'm becoming increasingly worried about our local media landscape because of Font PR's increased influence in addition to the usual players), I'm reading your comment with interest as I've been unable to get a clear on what the effect has been. For all the criticism the Andrews Government has copped and it does look to have had some effect, the Liberal Opposition is pretty poor and there's a point where propaganda gets so transparent that people turn off, especially in a place like Melbourne where there is at least some union culture.

They're probably making more people realise the absurdity of their warped propaganda than actually blame Dan Andrews. Can't say I'm representative of people in Melbourne, but I'm personally not under the impression the general public are viewing the State Govt is at fault. Not sure what's supposed to be the counter-factual here... Would the Murdoch press have preferred if this was not done by the private sector but instead the public sector? Like yeah, let's have the public sector do EVERYTHING - they'd probably be even more outraged.

Can you please elaborate? I've read up what the Belt and Road entails, and there's nothing in it we should be concerned about in relation to Victoria. I suspect you've just sponged up Tim Smith's splooge and are now trying to snowball us with it here.

I mean studies were already done showing protests weren't responsible for the increase in Covid and frankly letting a band of people primarily trained to butcher for oil tycoons manage civilians sounds like a terrible idea.

As far as I can tell, while most of my friends ARE Labor voters, but these lame criticisms and attacks against Andrews are not doing a thing. Everyone (including my Liberal voting dad) thinks the Andrews government is doing an admirable job dealing with Covid.
